Just got my XM15 back from Bushmaster. Had trouble with flat top upper receiver fitting I bought from them so I returned the complete firearm and they repaired and did a quick turn around. I am on the road but when I get home I want to attach an EOTech scope. Will I need some sort of riser underneath? Also wondering if I will need a cheek pad of some sort? I have the retractable stock. New to these guns and just thought I would try to get some opinions ahead of time. Any suggestions appreciated!

Whether or not you need a riser is a matter of personal preference. Some people find the front sights on an AR to be distracting with a red dot sight, some don't. (Personally, I don't think they're necessary, but that's what works for me.)

Doubt you'd need a cheek pad.

I replaced the combination gasblock-front sight with a 3 rail gas block so I shouldn't have a problem with front site. Thanks for input!
