im looking at buying a bushmaster and am looking at the varmatier, preditor and varmet speciel. just wondering how the accuracy compares on these diferent barrels. any help would be apriciated

Welcome to the board!

My next door neighbor has a Bushy Varmiteer (or however you spell it). 24 inch fluted barrel. It'll easily hold around .75 of an inch at 100 yards with Federal Gold Match, or quality Black Hills. I'd guess that a good handload would shoot down near 1/2 inch at 100 yards if you did your part.

If you put XM193 in it then you get some blown primers because I think it's a .223 chamber in the Varmint models and that's 5.56 . .that being said, it seems to shot XM193 into about an inch and 1/2 at 100 yards. FWIW

The one thing I did NOT like about it was the super fancy adjustable trigger. When my neighbor blew a primer it took us quite a while to work it out of the action so we could shoot again.

Have a good one,
Dave

welcome to thr. i have shot both the varminter and the predator. i have gotten great accuracy out of both of them with match grade ammo. they preform really well, i can hold both to .5" at 100yds with ease, and my buddy who is a better rifle man then me can take that up a notch plus he owns them so he is a little more familiar with them.

after shooting both of them i prefer the predator, i can get awesome accuracy out of it and is 4" shorter in barrel lenght making it very handy in all enviornments and conditions. and since the extra 4" don't seem to do me any favors in that accuracy dept. i would take the predator.
