question, my wife's son bought a used 30-06 savage model 110 w/bushnell scope. the variable power ring wouldn't move and the eyepiece seemed striped. so we figured it had been dropped. he took channel locks to it to get ring to turn. once he got it moving it still was hard to turn. you could feel the grit in on the threads. so i took the eyepiece off. like i said it felt striped. the threads on the tube looked fine. i put some wd-40 on the threads hoping to loosen up the variable power ring. let it set over night and the next morning when i sighted it on a mailbox down the street the crosshairs were gone and the power ring was bound up again. anyone have any ideas on what the heck happened? where would the crosshairs have gone? would changing the adjustment screws on the tube bring the crosshairs back? don't know the age of gun and scope.

Bushnell is whats wrong. Cheap ones especially. The ones that come as packages are the worst. I say don't sweat it, go get a decent replacement and move on.

well, that was my opinion. hopefully he'll agree. i did take it out to check it out again and moved my view around and found the crosshairs broken and in the upper right part of the scope view. they were o.k. yesterday. all of the fiddling with it must have broken them. so i guess that answers the question. huh
