Hey Guys-

I just bought a Bushnell Trophy TRS-25 red dot for my MKII Target. I've never owned a red dot before and was wondering about something.

When I look through the optic I get what appears to be 3 small dots that are all connected to make one oval like shape. It is apparent they are three individual dots though. Is this common of these cheaper red dots, or should I send it back for a replacement?

Thanks for any advice you have.
Josh

It should be one dot. Some dots are nice and round, while some are a bit starburst in nature, but there should not be three dots.

Definitely should be one dot. If you are seeing three distinct dots not connected that doesnt seem right. I've used the TRS before and didnt notice that on mine.

Sounds like it is the unit or you have astigmatism. Look through someone Else's red dot and see if it is one dot or is daisy shaped? As we age many develop astigmatism which plays havoc with us seeing a clear crisp dot. Also by turning down the brightness it seems to help or glasses can be your friend.

In most cases, unless the unit is damaged, it is the astigmatism or macular degeneration in some extreme case in the eyes that's causing the shooter to see an imperfect dot or even some elongated red blob. If you eyes are perfect, then have a few people look into the sight and tell you what they see.
