I have one of the thought of "cheapie" red dots on my SA vz-58, the Bushnell TRS-25. The dot itself is a little "messy" in shape, but it works, and holds zero quite well on my Zahal poly forearm. It doesn't take what one would call normal batteries, (I am looking at the Primary Arms Gen III AA battery powered one for my next "dot"), but the 2032 flat battery. Well, my local suppliers all went blank on 2032 batteries...couldn't find one anywhere. Oh well.
Today the DL 2032 batteries were available, replacements for the CR 2032, and I pulled the rifle out to change the battery - and it was still on. Sitting in the safe for 5-6 months on "2", and still glowing just fine. Admittedly, a low setting, (was using it as HD nighttime setup, don't want a BRIGHT dot at night), but still I was pleasantly surprised for a red dot that cost less than $100 to still be glowing away.
Just thought I'd share that.

I have left my TRS-25 on for 3 months easily on a higher setting, usually number 4, between battery changes. My service Aimpoint CompM4 wins the award for best battery life considering it was on the same AA battery for 13 months.

The TRS-25 (actually 2 models one with gold lettering and 4:30 illumination and one with silver lettering and 6:00) is a really great unit for the money.

Mike
