Christmas eve was spent at my in-laws with the grand folks and aunts and uncles and cousins. The evening was enjoyed by all.

Near the end of the evening my wife's 90 year old grandfather was kinda giving me a hug - great guy amazing what he has done. He felt my pistol on my side and kind of felt a little more to see what it was. Not a word said by either, I just kind of ignored it. Honestly I think he did too.

Not a big deal to him as he probably carried for years and my wife's uncles all have CCW and carry often. My wife's cousin has taken Gpa out to range to show off some of his toys.

We'll have to see if he says anything to me at next get together.

I have some anti's for inlaws

MIL is not sorely lib and she's kinda backwoods to as she scatters the geese with black-cats. Some of her children should just move to France or Canada. By law I will not find any trouble by concealed slopily so I can put some original homeland defense in their faces. Gotta have something start the heated discusions on gun control and how it all started. And where it ended up as recorded in some of the history books.

I have a few antis in my family, but also informed them of my decision to own a gun and carry it concealed. This way, if they do feel it during physical contact, they will have no reason to "freak out". Even if they don't respect my personal decision to carry, they accept it. Luckily for my family, I'm respected for the person I am and not what I do. I know that's becoming less common in today's families.

The more I read threads about folk's "anti" relatives, the more I appreciate my own kin. Most likely reaction to hugging me and feeling my CCW would be; "Whatcha carryin'?" followed by; "What ammo ya usin'?" followed by; "We oughta go shootin' sometime!" And that would be one of the women folk! :D

I recall getting ready to go Christmas shopping with my Mother a few years back. She put on her coat, dropped her Colt .380 Gov't. into the right front pocket, looked at me and said' "You have YOUR pistol don't you?" :D

Was at a Christmas party. Older lady (not a relative) that I know only slightly came up to me to do the obligatory hug (why do older ladies do that?). Anyway, I have had practice at this -- I had my arm on my strong side clamped down low and reached high with my other arm. Up until this instance, this has always worked -- the other person usually goes high with their arm on my strong side and low on the other..

This lady reaches out and JAMS her arm between my arm and my body, right on top of my concealed handgun. :)

She doesn't say anything, I don't react, other than to say "Hi, how are you? Merry Christmas!".

I figure she can think anything she wants -- I don't really care. But with everyone now carrying cell phones, pda's, and other junk, I bet she didn't think about a gun.

Maybe your gramps was the same way, and just wrote it off as more "belt barnacles".

Heheh, my vote is that grampa was going "My word, they're makin' pistols and holsters easier to hide every day" :-D

Nick... you just had an "old school" conversation, with your Grandfather, often done with only the eyes, it said everything your needed to hear, and everything that needed to be said. remember this look, and the exchange. Arc-Lite
