Butchering Primers

Personally, I use a countersink bit on a drill. I shoot LC brass which are all crimped. It takes about a second per case. It just takes a touch to get rid of the crimp.

I also have both the RCBS and the C4HD swagers. The C4HD is the best choice hands down IMHO as I agree with all points mtrmn makes. Their only drawback is there are no instructions provided with them but it was intuitive how to assemble them and use. The Lee Ram Prime is the same as priming portion and their instructions on line are the same but this one is not made of aluminum like the Lee. I will be soon getting rid of the RCBS one.

FWIW approximately 70% of the range brass 223/5.56 I find has crimped primers. There are some weird head stamps mixed in as well. Be aware that some are even Berdan primed. I will sort range brass by head stamp for the first cleaning/prep and look inside for the two flash holes on one example of each that is unknown to see if it is a Berdan before attempting to deprime any, those that are go into the recycle bucket. YMMV
