They seem to be a crapshoot. Some don't even shoot better than the factory barrel. My suggestions would be as follows.
If you want a cheap heavy barrel that may or may not shoot better than stock, buy a Butler Creek.
If you want a bull barrel that doesn't weigh a ton and is more accurate than stock, buy a lightweight .920" barrel from Tactical Solutions or Volquartsen.
If you want an accuracy upgrade that will shoot better than stock but won't weigh 10lbs, have your factory barrel rechambered and recrowned. The problem with Ruger barrels is not the bore but the sloppy chamber. Setting the barrel back and rechambering usually results in a very accurate rifle. Or buy a Green Mountain sporter barrel. They've been made everywhere between 16" and 28". I would prefer at least a 22" or longer.
If you want your 10/22 to shoot very well and don't care how much it weighs, buy a Green Mountain bull barrel.
If you want your 10/22 to be extremely accurate and don't care how much it weighs, buy a Clark, Shilen, Lilja or KID barrel.
If you want your 10/22 to be extremely accurate but want it to be light enough to actually carry and use afield, buy a Clark or Shilen mid-weight barrel.
