About to buy some more Glock mags, and looking specifically at the Gen 4 KCI Korean 30+ round mags for 9x19 and .40.

$10 each in bulk. Are they a buy or hold in your view?

I bought a couple of those years back, & shot a few mags through. I don't remember any problems, but i don't use them much. I run one through a keltec sub 2k every now & then, & they seem to work ok there, too. For the price, you can't really lose, & if you need to tweak them some to feed better, thats easy enough to do, too.

Factory glock mags just plain work, and arent crazy expensive. For the price, I cant justify buying lesser quality mags. I'd rather buy 2 factories than 4 (or whatever) cheapies.

If price is the main concern, dont be surprised if something that costs less doesnt function as well. "Just as good as" often doesnt work out.

I wouldnt take them if they were free either.

Man, I thought one of the selling points of Glocks was the plentiful and inexpensive factory/OEM mags!

Exactly. I mean, people who claim Glocks don't ever jam just haven't seen enough rounds fired with them, but their mags don't seem to be finicky.

Buying knock-off Glock mags seems about like buying expired hamburger meat at a 50% discount. Seems to be inviting trouble, and it's not like the regular-priced item was that expensive or hard to come by to start with.

I agree with both Malamute and ATLDave.
...looking specifically at the Gen 4 KCI Korean 30+ round mags...$10 each in bulk.
Aren't these 30+ rounders typically considered novelty items? Why would you buy them in bulk?

Magpul is making Glock magazines, for the 17 and the 19 coming soon (if not out already). I'd use those, and do.

Couldn't you say that about nearly ANY gun related or other hobby related item? I mean, seriously folks...:banghead:

I've used numerous Glock and Korean mags in different calibers and haven't had a hint of trouble out of either.

I've got lots of them in 9mm and .40S&W. Other than a few needing a touch of a belt sander to drop free they've worked very well for us. All the newer ones have been dimensionally better than some of the older ones were.

I haven't had a "real" Glock mag in my guns in a long time, these have worked great in G17, 17L, 22, and a pair of ARs that take Glock mags in .40S&W and 9mm.

I got most of my 17 & 22 Korean Mags for $5 each and the 30+ rounders were like 3 for $25 pre-Obama.

Simple, so we can have 300 rounds loaded and ready to go for each gun shooting steel plates -- loading them in air-conditioned comfort before heading to the range sure beats standing outside in 95+ degree heat stuffing your pair of magazines over and over again.

I'd buy them all again in a heartbeat. In fact with the drop back down to $10 again on these I may buy a few to have on hand as spares.

Bought the KCI two-pack w/ free cheapo nylon belt scabbard when they were "NEW ITEM" at either CTG or Sportsman's Guide... not what I keep in my 19 for protection, but work ok at the range. Main thing was putting them up for a month loaded and then downloading to check spring issues. IIRC one of the two had a sticky spring, but it sorted itself out in time. Major complaint was the Made In China black nylcon scabbard. Poor design and poor execution... Why would anyone want two snaps on a double mag pouch? If I'm feeding fresh rounds I want the fewest buckles as possible! YMMV

I can only get about 20 rounds in the 33-rounder, I can get about 14 rounds in the 17-rounders and I've had FTF with all my Korean mags.

I only take them to the range to save time on loading I would never trust my life to those mags.

I believe Magpul had to recall their first batches as they had jamming problems. Not sure if they've straightened them out yet or not.

I have a few for my G-19. A couple don't want to drop free smoothly. Other than that I can't say that I've had any problems with them. I would say they are fine for the range. I wouldn't carry them for self defense. Glock quality is higher but these work better than you might think.

You can get factory 33 round magazines for $35. Many magazines are a lot more than that for standard capacity mags.

It would depend on how many you had to buy to get them at $10 each and how many friends I had to share the expense. At $10 each I'd try 1 or 2 just for range use. But wouldn't want to have to buy a dozen to get the discount.

FWIW, I have a couple of the factory 33 rounders and they are perfectly reliable. I don't see a lot of practical use for them unless things got truly bad. But I do take them to the range and would trust them if I had to.

I have two of the 17-round Khan mags for my G17.

They work fine. I've had zero problems with them. The only gripe is sometimes the molding seams inside the mag bodies is not properly sealed or smoothed, and the follower could potentially hang up on it. This is an easy fix, though: just take a long file and grind it out, polish, etc. and they work fine.

However, with OEMs from old gen Glocks everywhere for decent prices, I'd just grab those instead for serious/life-depending use. It's not that they won't see you through a crisis, but...with OEMs being so well-known for being superb in the quality/function department, why skimp the $9?

I have several KAHN G17 mags that I run through my G19 Gen 4 at the range. Thousands of rounds fired w/o a hiccup using reloads and factory loads. They function fine. They are a little rougher at the lip, but it has never effected function.
I echo what others say about not using one in a self defense situation, I keep my factory mags loaded with Speer Gold Dot 124 gr +p and have them loaded in my safe when not carrying.

You know when choosing a system like a Glock, I would just go with factory magazines. You KNOW those are going to work and work WELL.
