Ok so a few questions on what suppressor(s) I should buy. So first I'm looking to supress a 40 however heres the catch I have 45's and 9's that I wouldn't mind supressing. The suppressor I want to get for my pistols is an osprey. But what I'm wondering is if i get a 45 ossprey how well will that work on a 40 compared to a designated 40 can and I know to use it on separet calibers you have to change a piston but I dont know what that means so hopefully someone can enlighten me.

Using a suppressor on most handguns requires one of these mechanisms so that the pistol can cycle properly.
You can certainly use a .45 cal suppressor on the smaller caliber handguns, but I'm not aware of the need to swap out the booster spring for each respective cartridge. Maybe someone here knows for certain though.

There is a youtube video that Silencerco put out on the .45 Osprey on 9mm. It has a louder first round pop, but the overall suppression is pretty good. Let me see if I can find it for you.

I like my Osprey 45 on my Glock 17L with the 9mm piston enough that I don't see the point of buying a dedicated 9mm can. Shooting steel plates without hearing protection I feel like a vampire walking in the sun 
However I might eventually get a dedicated 9mm can for my AR 9mm SBR or maybe an integrally suppressed upper.
You don't need to change the spring, only the piston, and even that is probably only because the piston is the part than threads onto the barrel. I suspect if the 9mm had the same threads as the .45 it'd just work, but if they were made like this, putting a 9mm can on a .45 would be a disaster!

Watch the videos from Silencerco that was linked above. It has tests showing the differences.
When you get outside in open air, 3db is not all that noticeable. In 9mm or .45ACP the bullets hitting the steel plates or the dirt behind them if I miss, is a lot louder than the report of the gun.

No. You will have to turn in a complete set of paperwork for both suppressors. Wait time is wait time; whether it be paperwork for 1 suppressor or 5. BTW: do yourself a favor and get a .308/7.62 suppressor for your AR... that is the route that I went and I shoot .223, 6.8, 7mmMag, .300BO out of it.
You might get a glue together model airplane to work on everytime you think about waiting on your stamps. Hopefully the model will take your mind off of the wait time... lol

You should just get a rimfire can for the 22 and 17.
I shoot the SAS Ti Arbiter for my centerfire rifles and I have their little 22lr can for my pistol and rifle. I couldn't be happier with either of them.
