Hey guys,

I just bought/shot my Sig 220 elite stainless, and I am looking to buy a P226 ASAP. I have found a 226NSW Navy (limited run of 2000) online for $1195 (best price I could get) and am contemplating between that or a NEW P226R. The price I got on the 226R is $935, which I guess is decent. I like the exclusivity of the NSW, and as a new gun owner, I'm not sure how I will feel as I mature as a gun owner with not having night sights, or a rail. Most likely I will never use the rail. I'm just debating with myself if the extra $300 for the NSW is worth it... Please share your feedback with me,as I need to close the deal within 24hrs, as its an auction. Thanks, your help is much appreciated.

If you are shooting it the NSW is not worth the coin. There is nothing really special about it. It has phosphated internals and mags but unless you are swimming in saltwater and shooting it will not matter.

If it where my $$$$ I would buy one of these. http://www.jgsales.com/product_info...l-vg-condition-/cPath/16_234/products_id/3959

Send it to your refinisher of choice and you have a W. German Sig and a smile on your face for less than either of the guns you are looking at.

Yea, I'll be shooting the he'll out of it.. The guy that owns the GS said the same thing, I just wanted an opinin from someone other than him. Considering I bought a 220 elite stainless from him today for 1150 ($200 less than MsRP), is $935 good for the 226 w/ sights? Also, he. Said that even though ijuat got the 220, I'll still want to shoot the 226 regularly.. Is this true? I shot a 9mm glock that they had for rent after the 220... Two totally different beasts. I want to get a Kimber stainless 1911 as well, but I was told there's a 6-10 month wait for a new order!

Well, I have a 226R, and I've seen the 226 navy, they both have rails and phosphate coatings and night sights. As far as i can tell, the only difference is the gold anchor that costs around 200 extra,(if I'm wrong someone tell me). That said I probably would have bought one of those if the price was right...
Looking at your poll though, I'd say if you can find the right Kimber with the features you want, go For it!

What's funny is I was reading up on the difference on another blog where a SEAL explained how most of theirs don't have the anchor and have rails. They do have SOME with the nsw spec, just not most. He also explained how SEALs see guns simply as tools and aren't gun enthusiasts like us on blogs. Also, he said most parts are interchanged from various 226's.

The Sig Navy with a NSW serial # does not have a rail.

They are 100% compatible with other P226s of their time frame.

IMHO that price is too high for a standard P226R.

An all German gun is only $799 from Dans. http://www.dansammo.com/images/inv/f0023.jpg

You can get a standard P226R fro $804 + shipping without looking around . http://www.topgunsupply.com/

You can do better if you know where to buy and have a good transfer dealer.

If you are looking for a Sig and good service

I purchased a .40 226 elite from them. They had the best price I could find.

Two days after the purchase it was at my FFL waiting for me to pick it up.

Very courteous, no hidden charges, and shipping was only 18 bucks.

I have no relation with TGS other than a very happy customer that plans on using them again in the near future.

I have the Sig P226 Navy model. It's a great pistol! I'd recommend getting this one if you are/were in Naval Special Warfare - especially if you plan on using it in and around water. I would still clean it well after being submerged in saltwater or freshwater.
