First order of business is getting 1 or 2 Swiss K-31s and maybe a Yugo SKS before they start going up in price like the dang Albanians.

But after that, I would like to order a Mauser. I was leaning toward one of the "captured" German K98K ones from CDNN.

Which would you guys suggest? Preferably less than $150 if at all possible.

I have a Yugo 'captured' K98 that they apparantly refurbed that is a really great firearm and in excellent shape.

I also have a Yugo Model 48A that is 'as new' but >50 yrs old probably. I really like that gun also.

Hard to go wrong with a 98 Mauser when you find them in good shape. VZ 24's in good shape are also fine fireams when you can find them.

Pick a good one in good shape and you can't go wrong.

Good luck, have fun and watch the credit card total grow on you!

Czech VZ24.

Lots of fuss over AIM getting a shipment of VZ24s recently, but go with Empire Arms. It's only about $10 more to go with Empire (I paid $189 out the door for mine), and you are pretty much guaranteed a great condition rifle from one of the most reputable C&R dealers.

LC Enterprises has unissued Yugo M48As for $189 (before shipping), as well.

If you have to stay under $150 final cost, then you can try the Yugo M48 from LC Enterprises for $99 (before shipping). They state 30% bluing with no cracks in stock. SOG has some Yugo 24/52s for $127+10 handpick (before shipping).

Grab one one of the German K-98s first because they will be the first to dry up as everyone wants this rifle. The Turkisk Mauser is also a nice gun if you can find one.

My current favority from my stable is a Yugo M48A, but with what is out there right now, if I was just picking up one it would have to be a soviet capture K98. Just too much history to pass up.

Did you send them out to all the C&R folks and MidwayUSA?

My wife is taking the permit to work to copy tonight. So I will be sending them out tomorrow, only 9 places, all the envelopes are done... :D

So, with your C&R can you buy guns to then sell other folks? Or do you need the full FFL to do that? I'm guessing the latter.

Also, how tough is it to get your C&R? Just a bit of paperwork, fingerprints, and an samll application fee? Or is it a mountain of paperwork, a lengthy background investigation, and large fee?

sumpnz,

Download these forms:

C&R Application

Certification of Compliance

Fill out two copies of them. Mail one set to the BATFE along with $30 and mail the second copy to your local chief law enforcement officer, sheriff or police chief.

That's all there is to it. Worst part is the wait.

The C&R FFL allows for collecting only, no sales. You may sell a piece here and there to enhance your collection, but you can't engage in 'business' with it.

;)

Also, how tough is it to get your C&R?

Just be sure to call a little while after your check gets cashed... they seemed to need a nudge to get things rolling.

I used a lot of information from http://p077.ezboard.com/bparallaxscurioandrelicfirearmsforums

The C&R discussion just about answered all the questions I had.

Though I can not conduct a business, I am sure my first order from Midway USA with the discount will look like a dealer's order, since I have been waiting for the C&R to order... :D

Another question

On the form 5330.30, do you put your name on part 1 and 2 or just one of them? In other words, what is part 2 (name of person certifying to citizenship)? I'm assuming I put my name in part 1 (name under which the application was filed) and part 2.

Thanks in advance!
