Finally got my Century C93 in Saturday (HK 93 Clone), and was able to take it out for it's first trip to the range today.
All that I can say is this is one sweet little rifle, the fit and finish is the best I have ever seen from Century, not to say the others are bad but I did a side-by-side comparison with a friends HK93 and it is built as well as his $3500.00 German version.
The parts kit used to build my rifle was almost new, all of the interanals are in excellent condition with little or no wear at all. The head space was very good, and it shoots great.
I didn't have any paper to shoot today so no pics to show off but shot the steel and boy am I impressed, It was like I couldn't miss, the feel is much more natural than my M-forgery (which I also brought) and the recoil is non exsistant.
I only had enough time to put 160 rounds through it (40 Wolf FMJ, 40S&B FMJ, 80 Serbian XM193) with no failures of any kind, I guess if I had any complaint at all it would be the creep in the trigger, but that is just the HK trigger they are all like that, unless you go with a PSG 1 pack.
For all of you that have always wanted an HK93 but either couldn't or wouldn't pay that much for a rifle, my first impresions are very good and it is well worth the $815.00 shipped.
I am sure that all of the "hattas" will jump all over this post but they can spend $3500.00 on the rifle and I will spend the other $2600.00 on optics and ammo, :neener: But I guess I am biased though, this is Century number seven for me, (CETME, C91, C93, TANTAL, WASR, R1A1, AES10B RPK)and all of them function perfectly. :p

This is this! It's not something else, it's this!

Don't pull it if you don't plan to use it, and don't use it if you don't plan to kill!

ALWAYS REMEMBER OUR MEN AND WOMEN OVER THERE.

Congrats!

I won't jump on your purchase-- I have only 1 CIA- -a WASR10.. Mine is a good one, but I do admit that if I had the money, a Century build would not be my first choice. That isn't knocking anyone who has purchased the other Century builds-- I still want to take a CETME off of someone for a good price, and pretty much any other of their offerings too. Even after all the complaints, they seem to be able to be made servicable guns.

Congrats again! Oh, and PICS!!!:p

Congrats!

I have about 1000 rounds through my C93 and I really love it. I had some issues the first time I took it out and discovered that it really doesn't like Wolf Military Classic. However once I switched to a different ammo it started working just fine, even with the Wolf black box stuff. Also it's a tack driver out to 100 yards and still pretty damn accurate out to 200 with good ammo, I haven't tried it much past 200 however. I fitted mine up with a Hensoldt Fero Z24 Sniper Scope and it's worked out great. I feel pretty confident now in saying this Century gun is actually very well built and certainly worth the $800 I spent on it. All I need to find now is a bipod and some smaller capacity mags.

Here's mine.

Here is some pics of the new baby, I should have mentioned that it was Wolf Gold that I used, found out with my G3 that they don't like steel cased ammo. No case expantion so they don't hold proper chamber pressure in the futed chamber, plus they crud up the flutes. Sorry for the quality my camera bit the dust so I had to use my eight year olds Cinderella camera.

Places like Aimsurplus and others have had small shipments of them. Should be more to come from what I understand...

What are your thoughts on the C93 vs Stag Model 2?

I see the Stags are back down to mid $800s

I've had good luck with Century guns, but I always buy in person and usually have to look at three or four to find the one I bring home.

the forend

Here is a loaded question from a forum noobie...
Any idea if the fore end from this rifle will fit on the .308 version? I love my Cetme .308 but HATE the forearm, I put a bipod on the rifle but it's a pain when folded and have never gotten around to fabricating a new one that will hold the pod, and this foreend looks like it might work with little or no modification.

On the topic of Century's quality... I have a handful of their firearms and no problems so far BUT,,, I NEVER buy this type of firearm OR used for that matter, sight unseen. As a former professional gunsmith, I've had the misfortune of having to rework way too many botched builds over the years, from simple black powder kits to socalled arsenal rebuilds. This is where it PAYS to support your local gunshop. The few extra bucks you pay are cheap insurance in the long run. (((stepping off soap box)))

Ya know I have heard a lot of negative feedback over the years on Century arms versions such as the R1A1 and so on..If you get a chance do try to look and get a hands on of the weapon you wish to purchase.Look at the machine work or sheet metal in this case. Many of the early L1A1'S and R1A1's (Centuries Fal's) are built extremely well. The R1A1 for instant are often built using a Imbel lower or this was the case early on..And these C93's have US built parts which exceeds the original Cetme parts.

The complaint on the Fal's of being non metric is rather moot. You can use metric mags in the inch receiver and even the dust cover slots in the upper have been cut to allow both the Metric version as well as the inch..The only complaint about the Century arms Fal I have had was the fact the new Magpul stock I want for it will not fit the inch receiver.. :(

So all this negative talk about Centuries weapons is just a huff in the dark..oh and I would NOT recommend Wolf ammo to anyone..It has failed even in my true HK 91..

Now since this topic was on the C93 rifle and not the FAL (sorry) I have found the C93 to be every bit as accurate as the HK93 fit and finish including welds have been very well done..Even the sights are straight LOL..Yes this was a problem on some of the original Cemte rifles..

Congrads on your purchase..You will be happy and you saved about $2000.00 over the HK version !! Cheers

Just because a serial rapist helped a little old lady across the street (once) doesn't mean you want him moving in next to you.

CAI has long history of sending screwed up guns out the door. One gun (or even series) that works right won't make that go away. BSW

I've seen my fair share of Century guns and I'll pass; but to each his own. I guess their screw ups happen when they're paying their guys something like $10.00/hr to work there. I'm pretty sure someone posted up a want ad hiring people at Century here.....
