Here's your chance to shoot at the new RWVA-Piru range and walk in the footsteps of those trailblazing individuals that were part of the

FIRST Nationwide Rifle Marksmanship Event in history on April 19th!!! If you weren't able to make the first Piru Appleseed, here's

another opportunity to test your skills against the AQT and learn what it takes to move from being an American rifle owner to becoming

an American Rifleman! So bring your friends, bring your family, bring your coworkers, and immerse yourself in the heritage that is

Rifle Marksmanship in America!!!!

As a special bonus, on Friday July 4th, we will be having a special Founder's Appreciation Family Fun Festival, which will include BBQ,

Giveaways, and prizes for games that include: Grenadier's Toss (water balloon toss), Water Volley (firing squirt guns at targets) Powder

Horn Relay (a relay to fill up powder horns with a spoon), Battle Road Run (3-legged race), and the RWVA History Game, where you get to

guess which famous Revolutionary War Person/Place you are, based on history facts! We will also be having a carnival style 22lr

shooting gallery, complete with "shoot out the star", steel targets, and the Red Coat Challenge! We may even have a few

Revolutionary War Reenactors wandering around.......so bring the kids along with the whole family and help us celebrate one of the

greatest things the Founders did for us......that is, sign the Declaration of Independence! And just to make sure we all know what

we are celebrating, the first 50 folks to show up on Friday will receive a FREE copy of the Declaration of Independence/Constitution just

for coming!

Get in those pre-reg's for the upcoming July 4-6, 2008 Piru, CA Appleseed at www.appleseedinfo.org. This gives us an idea of how many

instructors to have available to be able to properly cover the line, let alone get an accurate count of targets, t-shirts, hand-outs,

burgers, dogs, water, sodas etc.

We will also have a couple of WWII demilled mortors that are now basically BIG muzzleloaders that fire a concrete filled Coors can via

cannon fuse. We will also have a M274 Mechanical Mule with a Browning mount complete with a semi-auto 1919A4 Browning.

Non-magnetic 30-06 ammo will be available for purchase that you can link up yourself and give this thing a try!! There will also be a

semi-auto B.A.R. and other various rifles to try.

So who is coming to the Piru, CA Appleseed July 4-6, 2008 and have you pre-reg'ed yet? This event has a 60 shooter

capacity limit, so make sure you reserve your place before it fills up! For fireworks, most of us will be going in to Ventura and watch the

fireworks at Channel Islands Harbor at 9:00pm.

P.S. Ammo that attracts a magnet is prohibited at this range and don't forget the bug spray! Also, camping is free at the range......but remember, it's just around the corner.

What is an Appleseed Rifle Marksmanship Clinic About?

User Info

What is an Appleseed you ask?
The Appleseed Program is designed to take you from being a simple rifle owner to being a true rifleman. All throughout American history, the rifleman has been defined as a marksman capable of hitting a man-sized target from 500 yards away — no ifs, ands or buts about it. This 500-yard range is traditionally known as "the rifleman's quarter-mile;" a rifleman can hit just about any target he can see. This skill was particulary evident in the birth of our country, and was the difference in winning the Revolutionary War.

So why me?
This country was founded and won by riflemen who fought and beat British forces. We invite all interested marksmen to learn the skills and techniques necessary to shoot proficiently; and then hope you'll participate in teaching and practicing with others so that together we can save this great land. Why you? Well, that's simple: if you're on this page we're betting you're a patriot, and we hope you answer the call.

What's a rifleman?
In short, a rifleman is an armed American, trained in the tradition of American Liberty. It's a man who has learned to shoot a rifle accurately — accurate enough to score "expert" on the Army Qualification Course. Until you can do that, you're considered a "Cook," unprepared and unqualified to carry a rifle on the firing line of freedom. But after attending an Appleseed AQT shoot, you'll have the credentials necessary to be a true rifleman, and will understand the critical need for defending freedom in this country.

The RWVA is dedicated to the Appleseed Program and encourages every American to learn to shoot. For more info go to www.appleseedinfo.org

Folks, there are three and a half weeks to prepare to score Expert at the upcoming Corona Appleseed at Raahauge's- next one is October 18-19.
Honor your right to keep and bear arms by working to do so well.

“Well, I already do that, I shoot plenty,” you say.

You might get proficient shooting on your own, (after awhile), but there is nothing like an Appleseed to ramp up the learning process. Most lifetime informal shooters will walk into an Appleseed on Saturday morning... and by the end of the day, they're amazed at their improvement. Appleseeders commonly print groups that are, by the end of the day, half to a third the size of their initial Saturday morning test group.

What’s the reason for such improvement? Simply this: It is the natural, expected result of a shooter who has received proper instruction, and is executing sound techniques.
Suppose you’re interested in becoming a better rifle shot, and you go to your favorite range from time to time to work toward this goal. You have a rifle, ammo, and a range, but what you’re very likely missing out on is fundamental technique coaching. If somebody has never informed you of rifle shooting fundamentals- that is, how to build solid positions, use your sights, and squeeze that trigger- you’re really unlikely to stumble across them on your own.

It’s very well to be a gun owner- but practicing rifle shooting fundamentals makes you a good shot. I’ll bet many would pay three figures to a coach to improve their golf game. That’s purely for leisure and recreation. Suppose, friend, your country issued you a rifle, and that your family and nation’s survival- let alone that of your squad- depended upon how well you knew how to use it. I believe that Appleseed can take you nearer, and faster, to that skillset than a year’s worth of unstructured primer-punching at your regular range.

Thinking about joining the military, or are you already signed up for the delayed entry program? Appleseed teaches you how to distinguish yourself positively during your future range time. Show up with a copy of your signed service contract, your Appleseed instruction is free!

This is key to shooting well: it is not the number of rounds you fire over your lifetime that makes you a good shot. You can expend thousands of rounds- but with poor shooting form, you generate poor groupings, smoke, and noise. What a difference, though, a little solid coaching makes, and in a very few rounds.

Your average inexperienced (but Appleseeded) rifle owner will often shoot a rifle more accurately than an experienced (but never coached) rifle owner. To prove this out, all you have to do is observe the people who shoot at Appleseeds, and chat with them about their shooting background.
Two trends crystallize: The fact that people have been shooting ‘for years’ has no bearing necessarily on their ability to shoot well. However, the fact that people may have fired fewer than a hundred shots prior to Appleseed does not prevent them from shooting extremely well, after some proper coaching.

Come on out- if shooting is worth your time, then it’s worth learning how to do it well.
Appleseed is such a stand-out program precisely because American shooting is often done informally and absent solid coaching. As such, many times we simply shoot for fun, but seldom for the purpose of improvement, and almost never after having been coached properly. I’m all for fun. But a weekend of Appleseed builds you a solid foundation for you to practice, refine and improve your shooting over your lifetime. And that, friends, is true fun that is also the proper tribute due Liberty.

Anybody planning to carpool? Great way to meet your fellow gun owners, just yak all the way in, talking guns and politics to your heart’s content without the inevitable eye glaze-over of your non-shooting buddies who wish you followed sports or TV.

So, who’s coming out? What’re you shooting?

Here's looking forward to Appleseed Weekend at RGRA. Tom Wiknich was helpful to forward my invitation/information email to the RGRA membership.
Come on out, Ridgecrest, for one of the most challenging, fun, and memorable shooting weekends ever.
Weather is likely to be mild, mid-80's under crisp blue skies and sweet creosote breeze.
I invited the local Army recruiter, too; he'll shoot for free, just like all active duty military.
That goes for all you Navy personnel on the base, too; come on out with your military ID and shoot FOR FREE!
Any questions? Post them here. See you all there!

Glen Helen CA Appleseed November 14-15th 2009

This Appleseed will be held on November 14-15th, 2009, and is our first shoot at the West End Gun Club (www.wegc.org) down near where the 210 and the 15 meet. This first shoot at this range is limited to .22 rimfire only.

Come out and joins us and rediscover your heritage as an American and learn how to become an even better rifle shot than you are now.

You just bought a new rifle? We will show you how to be safe, efficient and accurate with it.

You say you've never fired a rifle before?? No problem!! We will train you how to safely, efficiently and correctly operate a rifle.

You don't even have a rifle of your own? Again, not a problem. Make a note in the sign up comments and we will try our best to arrange a loaner rifle for you.

Rusty? Been awhile since you last seriously shot your favorite rifle. Come knock the rust off and give the equipment a serious shake out.

You really know how to shoot? Come see if you can measure up to the standards set by the Rifleman heritage. Who knows you might stay and decide to help pass those skill on.

You'd like to come but with the economy the way it is you don't think you can afford the time and money? Come and see why Appleseed is the only long term answer to solving these problems and that you really can't afford not to come. Sometimes short term sacrifice is necessary for long term gain. Get some friends to come with you, split the costs, carpool, share rooms, camp out. When bad times are coming now is the time to network and meet up with like minded Americans working together to save this country.

All applicable California rifle restrictions are in place, if in doubt to what is allowable, please refer to: http://www.ag.ca.gov/firearms/

This first shoot at this range is limited to .22 rimfire only at 25m.

Now, what is this going to cost you? Women, all under 21s, and active military, reserves, and National Guard are given free admittance. Guys, 21 & older that are not in the military will be charged $45 for one day, $70 for the full weekend if they pre register here: http://www.eventbrite.com/event/442127415

The above are the Appleseed fees. In addition there are the daily range fees which are $10/person/day or $5/under 21/day.

We shoot at 25m (82 ft) at a reduced size Army Qualification Target, scaled for 100, 200, 300, & 400 yd shooting.
We do not require the use of specialized gear, it really is a "run what you brung" shoot. We suggest the use of between .22 - 8mm rifles.

Iron sights, Tech-Sights, scopes, semi auto, bolt action, lever action, pump action, if you have it and want to learn how to shoot it better, bring it!!

The only real requirement is that there is some way to attach a sling to your rifle. If you don't have a sling we can probably loan one if you have a swivel stud to attach it to!

Plan on shooting about 250 rounds of ammo, per rifle, per day. The range is our classroom, & we very much believe in teaching and shooting.

*No detachable box magazines may be brought into state with capacity exceeding ten rounds. All Tubular-magazine 22s are OK.

*“Assault weapons” ban- If you’re registered with CA DOJ already, you’re fine and can shoot your AK, AR15, G3 etc. with no problem. Might want to Xerox the DOJ document and keep it in the rifle case. Do not bring an unregistered “assault weapon” into the state. Do not bring an unregistered “assault weapon” to the range. Similarly, unregistered 50 BMG is not legal.

Out of state shooters, don’t bring military-pattern semiautomatics as they’re almost sure to fall under the “assault weapon” ban. M1 Garands are OK, however. Having said all that about “assault rifles”, there is provision in state law for out-of-state shooters to bring “assault rifles” to CA shooting events; anybody wants to try that out might want to read the statute for themselves and consult a lawyer-welcome to California.

Now, what is this going to cost you? Women, anyone under 21, and active military, reserves, and National Guard are given free admittance. Guys, 21 & older that are not in the military will be charged $45 for one day, $70 for the full weekend if they pre register here: http://www.eventbrite.com/event/800384973

State Laws to be aware of: Check State Laws: http://www.ag.ca.gov/firearms/
*No detachable box magazines may be brought into state with capacity exceeding ten rounds. Unless you owned them prior to Jan1, 2000; then it's OK.

M1 Garand and most 10-shot fixed-magazine SKS are OK, however. There is one SKS exception: Zastava SKS Carbines 59/66 are considered destructive devices in California and therefore may not be purchased, possessed, imported, or kept for sale without a permit. (Having said all that about “assault rifles”, there is provision in state law for out-of-state shooters to bring “assault rifles” to CA shooting events; anybody wants to try that out might want to read the statute for themselves and consult a lawyer, welcome to California.)
Transporting firearms -Transport rifles unloaded. “Assault rifles” go in padlocked containers. Car trunk is considered a locked container, but glove compartment, even if it locks, is not OK. (I go the extra mile and padlock everything: firearms in one padlocked container, ammunition in another padlocked container. More than law requires, though.) No tracer, incindiary, or armor piercing ammo allowed.

Misc: It is 25 meter shooting on Saturday and full distance on Sunday, so bring your Centerfire rifles or 22's , or both, and gain valuable marksmanship skills.

The Appleseed Project: South Bay Rod and Gun Club, Dulzura, CA

Rifle shooting and American Revolutionary War history all weekend: a public experiment in the practical application of Liberty.

Honor brave Americans who gave their lives long ago for your Liberty by learning their stories.

If you are a new or long-time rifle shooter, spending a weekend refining fundamentals will improve your shooting. All skill levels are welcome, families especially.

Learn how to:
Shoot from standing, sitting, prone positions.
Use a loop sling.
Adjust sights.
How to mentally, physically fire each shot.

Military, police, ladies and youth pay range fees only, that’s only $5 per shooter per day.
(Military& LE families- that's a low cost, high-value family weekend!)
All others pay $80 both days for walk-on registration, $70 for pre-registration.

Rev War re-enactors, in uniform, pay range fees only.

The course of fire is at 25m on scaled targets; this is a challenging and fun course of fire derived from an Army Qualification Test. The fundamentals that bring hits at 25m apply at full distance shooting also.

What to Bring: Rifle of your choice, 250 rounds ammo per person per day, ground mat, water, sunscreen, hat, extra mags/stripper clips, sight adjustment tools, sack lunch.

Lunch while hearing Revolutionary War History! The high price paid to win our Liberty. Bring friends and family.

Rifles: Magazine or tube fed rifles are good choices. Bring extra magazines. Sling equipped rifles are good choices, especially with GI M1 Garand slings. Some Garand slings will be available to purchase at cost, but make sure your rifle has 1 ¼ inch wide swivels (not 1” swivels) to fit the Garand sling.
Scopes, optics, iron sights are all OK. 22 rimfires are good choices due to the cheap price of ammunition and 25m distance.

Show your family what a weekend looks like-and sounds like- in a free country. Celebrate Liberty at the South Bay Rod and Gun Club in Dulzura this October 30-31, 2010.

Get up off that couch!!! Put down that Wii controller!!! Lay off the X-box 360 for a day or two!!!!

Come on out!!! Be a true American!!!

You all will have a chance to prove your marksmanship ability against the dreaded AQT, to show mastery of not only your rifle, but also your self! A chance to hear of the choices and sacrifices the men and women of America made on April 19, 1775 in response to a confiscatory British army. A chance to again discover your inner Patriot, and to celebrate together with fellow Americans in one of your oldest rights!

You say you've never shot a rifle before? That's one of the things we teach; safe, correct, & efficient operation of your rifle.

You say it's been awhile since your rifle has been out to the range with you, for you to see where both of you are in that "relationship"? Bring it!!

We specialize in making you a better shot with your rifle!! If you do not have one, or if yours fails during the event, we May even have .22's to loan out.....just ask before the event, if possible.

Iron sights, Tech-Sights, scopes, semi auto, bolt action, lever action, pump action, if you have it, & want to learn how to shoot it better, bring it!!

Bi-pods are not allowed, we actually teach how to get away from "needing them".....

Plan on shooting about 250 rounds of ammo, per rifle, per day. The range is our classroom, & we believe in teaching, & shooting, On the line.

RWVA’s Appleseed Tour
Comes to Lemoore, CA
October 23-24, 2010

Who we are and what we're about: The Appleseed Program is designed to take you from being a simple rifle owner to being a true rifleman. All throughout American history, the rifleman has been defined as a marksman capable of hitting a man-sized targets from 500 yards away — no ifs, ands or buts about it. This 500-yard range is traditionally known as "the rifleman's quarter-mile;" a rifleman can hit just about any target he can see. This skill was particularly evident in the birth of our country, and was the difference in winning the Revolutionary War. What You Will Learn?
“Six Steps To Firing A Shot”:
1. Sight Alignment
2. Sight Picture
3. Respiratory pause
4. a. Focus your eye on the front sight
4. b. Focus your mind on keeping the front sight on the target
5. Squeeze the trigger
6. Follow through
We will also cover sling usage, sight adjustment, Inches, Minutes, Clicks, and the Heritage and beginning of the American Rifleman.

This Appleseed will be held on October 23-24, 2010, at the West End Gun Club (www.wegc.org) down near where the 210 and the 15 meet. This shoot at this range is limited to .22 rimfire only.

For this first shoot at this range we will be using only .22 rimfire at 25m.

Now, what is this going to cost you? Women, all under 21s, and active military, reserves, and National Guard are given free admittance. Guys, 21 & older that are not in the military will be charged $45 for one day, $70 for the full weekend if they pre register here: http://www.eventbrite.com/event/547457460

If they just show up at the door, it will be $50 for one day, and $80 for the weekend.

For more information on this shoot, please check here: http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?topic=11398.0

There are local motels if needed. Please see the above link. You can also download flyers from that link to print out and share with your friends, family and co-workers.

We gather at lunch on site to explain the importance of April 19, 1775, the beginnings of our country and our Heritage.
Plan to bring a bag lunch both days. There is not time to drive out for lunch.

We guarantee you will not want to miss this portion of the event. Come learn about the choices made by the men and women of Colonial America and their response to an oppressive King. See if you can see any comparisons that might be drawn between then and now. See what your own choices are.

No tracer ammo or ammo that attracts a magnet is allowed.
Please arrive for check in by 8:30am.
We recommend you bring: Sling; shooting jacket; elbow pads; shooting mat (or carpet remnant); water/drink bottles; teachable attitude; Bring plenty of water; If you have shade/popups bring those plus some means to anchor them against wind gusts.

We have only 20 spaces available, so hurry and get yourself pre-registered, so you do not miss out on this opportunity!!

For more info goto www.appleseedinfo.org We'll see you there!!

We specialize in making you a better shot with your rifle!! If you do not have one, or if yours fails during the event, we even have .22's to loan out.....just ask before the event, if possible.

The range is our classroom, & we very much believe in teaching, & shooting.

All applicable California rifle restrictions are in place, if in doubt to what is allowable, please refer to: http://www.ag.ca.gov/firearms/

Now, what is this going to cost you? Women, anyone under 21, and active military, reserves, and National Guard are given free admittance. Guys, 21 & older that are not in the military will be charged $45 for one day, $70 for the full weekend if they pre register here: http://www.eventbrite.com/event/8186...20

If they just show up at the door, it will be $50 for one day, and $80 for the weekend. In addition everyone pays range fees. They are $10/shooter/day.

We recommend you bring: Rifle, ammunition, hat, adjustable sling, shooting jacket, elbow pads, shooting mat (or carpet remnant), bag lunch, water/drink bottles, stapler & staples, pens, chair, and most importantly, a teachable attitude.
