"Government records show Mr. Farook, a U.S. citizen, traveled to Saudi Arabia last year. Authorities don’t automatically attach any importance to that trip, but they are investigating his background, the officials said."

A Syed R. Farook was employed by the San Bernardino County as an environmental health specialist, public records showed, according to the Times.

The two suspects were armed with AR-15 assault rifles, pistols, and many magazines of ammunition, an agent with the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms told KTLA.

“I haven’t heard anything,” the elder Syed Farook told the Daily News. “He was very religious. He would go to work, come back, go to pray, come back. He’s Muslim.”

“He was quiet but always polite,” Maria Gutierrez told The News. “Maybe two years ago he became more religious. He grew a beard and started to wear religious clothing. The long shirt that’s like a dress and the cap on his head.”

The media =/= facts, but this is very interesting none the less. I'm following this closely.

Police just stated on the news conference that the time from the first shot to the time police arrived was four minutes.

Four minutes doesn't sound long, but I bet it was an eternity for those victims hiding in the building.

Just another case that shows the police cannot be everywhere all of the time. A trained and armed citizen might have cut the body count down considerably.

Apparently they were carrying a DPMS and a S&W "assault' rifles and a Llama and a S&W pistol, caliber unknown at this time.

So it was just two shooters, then? Weird that they started shooting and got away in a vehicle before police showed up in less than 4 mins. That's kinda hard to believe. There aren't really other examples of active shooters behaving this way... start shooting, take the lives that you can, and get out immediately. Especially if these guys have ties to ISIS, as is being claimed... wouldn't they have been all too happy to die as martyrs? Just doesn't seem to fit the profile.

Gonna be interesting to see what else is revealed about this.

Are not California legal AR15s supposed to have "bullet button" fixed magazines limited to ten rounds or am I misinformed here?

Well we know that these terrorists wanted to kill people the most legal way possible. So I figure they had bullet buttons on their AR's

To me, the report of pipe bombs indicates this was a planned event. You don't build pipebombs on the spur of the moment. The 4 minute attack-to-getaway implies planning. Yes, that's SPECULATION not established FACT, but that is what we will be getting from our news media devoted to TRU[sup]th[/sup].

The pipe bombs, grenades, extra ammo vests and the chilling fact that they were wearing Go Pro cameras, to perhaps upload the killings later, seems to indicate this was a thought out, planned attack.

Obviously this seemed to be better planned than the two yokels that killed some cops and were confronted by a CCW in Wal-Mart. Yet I kind of have to wonder if the main different was the absence of armed resistance in the CA shooting. Joe Wilcox, the legally armed carrier that confronted the two murderers, was himself killed by a gunshot to the back, but his presence may well have prevented more deaths. The shooters in CA were better armed but since they didn't seem to be intending to die I wonder if an armed citizen or two might have forced them to retreat early?
