Shootout During Robbery Leaves Clerk Wounded, Suspect Dead

A shootout at a Stockton convenience store has left an employee of the store injured and a robbery suspect dead.

The gunfire erupted early Friday afternoon, when two men entered the Better Buy Store at the corner of Sonora and Stanislaus streets in south Stockton. Police say both suspects fired shots at the clerk, who drew his own weapon and retuned fire.

One of the suspects was found dead about a block away. The other suspect was seen driving from the scene in a black 1997 Nissan Pathfinder.

Although the clerk suffered two separate bullet wounds, the injuries are not considered life threatening.

The chains that forbid employees from having guns should sit up and pay attention.

This clerk didn't pull his gun UNTIL he was being shot at by 2 perps. If it wasn't for his gun, he'd be dead even though he was apparently following the blissninny rules of "cooperating" with the robbers.

Good for him! :neener:

Bet he still gets fired for saving his life.

Good for him. Too bad he had to get shot, let alone twice.

Maybe he can sue the deceased guys family for loss of income, trauma, mental anguish and other arcane legalities before the BG's family sues the store and him for the loss of their beloved little criminal in the wrongful death suit that's sure to follow.

Will the local DA press any charges against him like the NY city DA is doing?

Adios

You'd think the lessons learned over the years with respect to appeasement, on an international as well as individual scale, would be well-learned by now.

Hint: It don't work!

Glad this guy's wounds aren't life-threatening. Hope for a full recovery for him, and that the DA has enough sense to let well enough alone and realize that the good guys came out ahead here.
