Pardon me if this is old news, but I just noticed it.

Remember they stopped selling powder and primers online back in early 2021?

Anyway, because I don’t have obvious firearms related things sent to the house, ship to store has always been a favorite of mine. And with powder, it’s a great way to avoid Hazmat fees.

I don’t know what all powders are currently available but I did see W231 and AA#2. I did not see Alliant but didn’t look too hard either.

(They still don’t have primers online.)

Availability of powders is definitely common back, has cfe 223 in my cart at midsouth shooters supply for 2 weeks and still available whe I pulled the trigger yesterday. Price wasn't too bad either 33.89/lb haznat and shipping pushed the price higher, but less than I could find local to me.

I rolled the dice hoping to find Speer 170gr Deep Curls and spent $15 to drive to Bass Pro. Was hoping maybe but they only had one box of .357” and they were Hornady 158gr XTP-HP. Great bullet for CCW but lousy for putting meat in the freezer. They did have some powder but nothing I needed. However, they did have some Federal GMM LPM primers. Way expensive but that’s a great primer for my 255gr LSWC .44Mag loads with Accurate 4100. After the military discount, donation to the Wildlife fund and local taxes it was $110 out the door for the brick. That was all they had and it’s going to be a week at least before they get any more primers in. Guys behind the counter said those were the first large primers they’ve seen since late 2021. I’ve never paid that much for large pistol magnum primers but 4100 and No.9 both really prefer more flash in the cold weather.

Edit to add: I like the new packaging.

I am not a hunter so I have to ask. What causes the the XTPs to be a "lousy" hunting bullet.
That doesn't make sense to me.

I can’t afford to hate them. They’re the only game in town for me and even then they’re 35 miles away.
Yup. Next nearest is 45 miles.
My only problem with BP is they hire college kids in the spring and fall during hunting season to fill out the registers. . It’s a college town so that’s to be expected. But they’re unhelpful at best. They were training a new kid yesterday - four old guys and one kid - and the kid made a snarky comment about how the veterans discount ought to double the price. I’m guessing he was trying to be funny. Kinda think he maybe joked himself out of a job. I don’t blame corporate or the local manager for that.

Traitor!:) They were on the "boycott" when they cleared the ARs off the shelves.

No one around me sells reloading supplies other than a Bass Pro about the same distance away. Nice store to roam around in, but they are to expensive,
I just waited until I could place decent size order and just get it mailed to me, But I have not needed components for a long time.
Haz Mat fee is not an issue to me, better than paying tax.

We have lots of guns shops (some big) but they do not sell reloading stuff.

Florida is an online sales tax state. If an online seller isn’t paying the tax, they are breaking the law.

If you haven't been paying your tax you are breaking the law.

Last orders from several places for bullets and parts had no tax on them.
The companies have no locations in Florida.

I’m calling BS. Call the state’s attorney and get some facts on how sales tax collection works.

BS on the companies need to collect tax.

Use Tax

Use tax is due on the use or consumption of taxable goods or services when sales tax was not paid at the time of purchase. For example:

  • If you buy a taxable item in Florida and did not pay sales tax, you owe use tax.
  • If you buy an item tax exempt intending to resell it, and then use the item in your business or for personal use, you owe use tax.
  • If you buy a taxable item outside Florida and bring it into (or have it delivered into) Florida, and you did not pay sales tax on the item, you owe use tax.

At least you agree: buying online does not legally evade or avoid the tax. QED. Thanks for playing.
