Caffeine Shakes

Drink 10 cups a day. That way, 3 cups would hardly have any effect on you after a while. :D

In college, I could drink a couple of pots in one sitting. Four cups before bed doesn't even keep me up anymore, except maybe when it makes me go to the bathroom.

Snapperwhippers.

Getting old was a heck of a lot of fun.
It's being old that kindy sucky.

Coffee and precision shooting not a good mix.

Difference tho. Combat shooting you tryin to obtain one ragged hole.
Precision shooting, you tryin for one round hole.
Tryin n gettin different too.
But...the more you try, the closer you get.

I can drink a POT of coffee, on top of several diet Cokes, and do the same thing.

I used to be that way. Started on coffee before I started kindergarten. But in my 20s I started wondering, and worrying, about my shaking hands.

Quit coffee. No more shaking hands. Now just one cup will get me buzzed.

Limit your coffee intake. I have two medium size cups at home and that's it. Don't make it too strong or drink coffee out. Have tea if you need something during the day and it'll probably help.

You're not mixing things correctly - that's why you have the shakes.

Everyone knows that a cup of strong coffee goes real well with one or two Camel straights - the nicotine offsets the cafeine - and all is well:D !

(just kidding - I quit smoking cigarettes many years ago - but I do still recall what an enjoyable combination coffee and a smoke was. Too bad we have to watch our health:cuss: !)

Neither one is good for your shooting (or golf) or any other activity that requires precision muscle control.

I gave up coffee nearly twenty years ago, so I don't have caffeine shakes. But chain-smoking gives me nicotene shakes. It's the most noticeable on the first target, but I've found that if I do a lot of deep breathing things stabilize after awhile.

Ayoob's course teaches the students to shoot through the shakes. We had to get our hands shaking like Janet Reno, and still try to hit the target. It's amazing how well the students shot under those conditions.

Shakes:
I tell you one thing NOT to do, use a weedeater! We weed-eated around the club and thought we'd shoot a round of skeet, all of us had problems...stupid us then tried plinking with 22 rifles and handguns. We even noticed if we used a weed eater at home earlier, then tried to shoot later , same shaky deal. I used a chainsaw one morning at the range and shot fine when finished...but I won't weed -eat and try shooting. I must be allergic to Poulan :D

sorry, reading Preacherman's posts causes puns...

Another "addict" here.

FWIW, The Wife often dillutes our coffee cannister with 50 per cent "unleaded" ...

And, what no one has pointed out here yet, the shakes and/or movement are typically present with or without caffiene. The red dot sights and lasers just make it more obvious ...

Another FWIW ... A few weeks ago, I was scheduled for CHL instructor requalification at 7:30 A.M. !!! Like some others here, I am well beyond 40 (when eyes typically go south) and was concerned about needing to shoot well with a severe case of tendonitis (tennis elbow, altho I don't play) on strong side at the time.

So, following the advice of some medical-type friends, I bought a box of "BC Powder" (pain killer/anti-inflammatory) to get in my system early. I took one package the night before and two packages (yuk!) with a light breakfast (and a couple of cups of leaded coffee). Then, when time to shoot ... 250 of 250 with revolver. Ditto with the Glock. :)

Being quire pleased with the scores - and NOT having experienced much pain - I decided to put on the old reading glasses and check out the fine print on the box of BC Powder. IIRC, contents: 2/3 aspirin and 1/3 CAFFIENE. :D
