Alright guys or gals. I recently bought my very first AR. :D It is a Del-Ton 16" Carbine with the Magpul MOE hanguard, grip, stock and trigger guard. I absolutely love the gun. For $830 it's good enough. Originally I was going to just build my own Ar from the ground up, but there were two limiting factors that led me to just buy a complete rifle: 1. Time; I leave Nov. 1st for the Air Force and there was no way I was going to be able to finish the gun by then. And 2. You have to be 21 years old to buy a stripped lower.

So heres what this thread is all about:
What do yall think about Del-Ton? What's good, what's bad?
Also, since I'm in california, there are restrictions out the ass on these guns. I'm pissed about the dumb ass bullet button mag release (I didn't know that was a law when I bought the gun..). I've read up on the buttons, and after market ones just get screwed in, however the one on my AR does not have a screw.

What I want to know is how to remove the one on it, and replace it with (a still legal) new mag release.
It seems that its like a gas ring (I cant remember the technical name for them. Its the rings that you have to spread open to take on or off.) holds it on.

Does anyone know how to remove the mag releases on these ARs?

press the mag release button (all the way in) with the eraser end of a pencil. From the other side of the receiver unscrew the mag-catch bar.

Hi Z
If you look very carefully at your pic #1, you'll see that inside the bullet button there are two "slots" that you insert a screwdriver blade. You unscrew the bullet botton with the screwdriver, then the assembly will come out. When you leave the state of California, you simply replace the spring and the mag release button, still utilizing the original stem of the release assembly.

Takes a total of 5 minutes for you replace. You can pick up a mag release button at a gun show for 2$. If you don't buy the spring there too, a fuel injector actuator spring from a 1979 VW rabbit will fit just right.
