What if someone wants to move to CA and legally owns one where they currently live, are they able to register it within some time period upon becoming a CA resident???

sorry...illegal to import any already banned by name or having features that fall under the definitions.

if your's isn't banned outright, you can either go the featureless route or add a bullet button mag release.

my opinion is the the featureless route is easier and on more solid legal footing than the bullet buttion....and if you go with the Hammerhead can still be pretty good looking

Yeah I guess it wasn't clear from my last post but if your receiver isn't on the banned list you can make it legal pretty easily. Either go the fixed mag route by adding a bullet button or the fully functional (some call it featureless but I hate the word) route by removing all the prohibited cosmetic features and replacing the pistol grip somehow. Not a big deal either way.

Keep your high cap magazines though, just disassemble them before you cross the state lines. They are legal to bring in disassembled (they're considered repair kits). You may need to reassemble them in a hurry if the SHTF big time, or if like me you move back out of the state to the free USA.
