If you cant ban the guns legally, just legislate them into oblivion by imposing impossible technology upon the manufacturers:

Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa will join Assemblyman Mike Feuer, D-Los Angeles, Los Angeles County Sheriff Lee Baca and Los Angeles Police Department Deputy Chief Gray Brennan in urging the Legislature to pass AB 1471, the Crime Gun Identification Act.
The measure would require all new semiautomatic handgun models sold in California after Jan. 1, 2010 be imprinted with microstamping technology, which microscopically imprints the make, model and serial number of the gun on the bullet's cartridge case when the gun is fired.
Add to this the "Ammo Tax" and "No Lead in Bullets law" and "Signature Gun law" that keep surfacing and our Right to Bear Arms will end up being pretty meaningless in California.
