I just got this from an ammo supplier I do business with:

Greetings!

YOUR RIGHTS TO PURCHASE AMMUNITION ONLINE IS AT RISK!
CONTACT YOUR SENATOR TODAY!

California legislature would make it a crime to sell handgun ammunition, new or reloaded, unless the purchaser personally presents clear evidence of his or her identity and age to the seller of the ammunition. This would ban the sale of handgun ammunition through the mail or over the Internet in the state and would also make it a crime to sell any amount of handgun ammunition to another party without verifying age, even in private party transactions. If enacted, Assembly Bill #2714 calls for violation of its provisions to be punishable by: "imprisonment in a county jail for a term not to exceed six months, or by a fine not to exceed $1,000, or by both imprisonment and that fine, with increased penalties for second or subsequent violations."

AB2714, the Ammo Age Verification Bill, has passed out of the California State Assembly, and is now headed to the State Senate.

What this means to you:

Any handgun ammunition transaction will require a PERSONAL Identification check to verify age.

This means no internet or mail order sales to any Californian.

Outdoor Marksman has always required an adult signature, 21 years of age or older, at point of delivery for all ammunition sales. Verified by an agent of UPS. Even with this thorough security step we will no longer be able to sell handgun ammunition to you, nor will any other resource that cannot make a face-to-face verification of age.

What this means to you is, less selection and Higher Prices.

It is critical that you contact your senator, respectfully asking him/her to vote NO on this bill. Please contact him/her TODAY!

I have sent email to my state Senator (Bob Margett... a Republican!) urging him to vote "no", an email to Gov. Arnold asking him to veto the bill if it makes it through the senate, and the following email to my assemblymember:
Dear Assemblymember Carol Liu,
Because you have voted in support of bill AB2714 (Torrico) banning internet sales of handgun ammunition to California, I am disappointed in you as my elected assembly representative.

The bill was passed by the Assembly under the pretense that it will hinder underage gang members from buying ammunition. Never mind that a gang member would never go through as much ammunition in a year as the average law-abiding shooter goes through at the range in one hour. Never mind that there is nothing that would stop a gang member of legal age from buying ammunition and simply GIVING it to an underage gang member. The bill was passed by the state assembly to address a non-existing problem. Gang members don't buy or use enough ammunition for this bill to make any significant difference for them, but it will force all law-abiding gun owners and shooters to pay much higher prices for ammunition.

You are no dummy, so you must have known that AB2714 would do nothing to affect crime. You knew it would only hassle law-abiding gun owners, and you still voted for it. Not only will I vote against you at the next election, I will do all I can to support your opponent, whoever he or she will be.

Regretfully yours,
XXXX
I had planned to stay and fight for gun owners in California... but then this... ARGH!:banghead: Death by a 1000 cuts :fire:

Ya, incrementalism, restricting a right into oblivion, one law at a time.

Thanks for posting this, I'm going to send this to everyone I know in CA, had no idea such a bill was even being discussed.

I'm not a resident of the state, just stationed here, but I also wrote an email about this. Amazing that I live in a blue state but everyone in the town where I live is a redneck. Maybe the name should be changed to San Fran Angeles since the rest of the state does not seem to matter.

Everytime I think of California I get pi$$ed at Sean Hannity for not endorsing Tom McClintock for Gov....but instead he goes for the fame vote with arnold. (only to realize....wow arnolds a RINO.

Let it pass. Buy ammo online, from out of state.

If the law is ever enforced, sue, have the law struck down because it involves interstate commerce and interstate commerce is off limits to states.

All you need is an impartial judiciary.

Good luck you poor bastards over there.

I know you're kidding - That's what this bill is designed to stop. I'm sure the ammo suppliers make alot of sales to CA but they won't take chances on getting sued. Their business means alot more to them than the rights of Californians.
