I've always had a soft-spot for "trapper" and "stockman" styled folders and these caught my eye at an estate sale this past week.

Sure, they're a bit hollywood but still have that wonderful Camillus heft and action.

There is the "CAMILLUS" as shown and then: "N.Y USA" on the other side.

Looking inside the liners, there are no holes for the lanyard hole as is common on this style and it has brass liners.

I can find nothing like them on the internet for reference. Does anyone have any input about these two? IMG_0453.JPG

O have never seen those scales on CAMILLUS knifes maybe rescaled?
I wondered at that but I think if they were privately redone, the original lanyard hole would still be there.
I know the "Yellow Jacket" didn't have the holes but then too, it had no bolsters either.

Let me preface my post by stating that I'm not a Camillus expert.

No pins holding the scales in place. That doesn't seem typical to me.

Do the liners have pin holes? If so then I would say they have been rescaled. If not, then I would lean towards them being some kind of knockoff.

I thought that and noted the lack of holes but also noted that Camillus has a couple of big trappers with no external pins and some with one, none and two bolsters as well as sometimes having lanyard holes and sometimes not. Most confusing.

The last Camillus tang stamp had "New York" under Camillus.
I'm fairly certain it's not remotely new and there is a period with N.Y. on the other side too - adding to the confusion.
Thanks for the input though.

I believe these are real Camillus knives, and I like the showy grips!

I could not find a similiar example on ebay, but that does not mean these are not factory knives.

I sent the image to the former Camillus lead designer and he says it is probably a parts knife from the leftovers.

I asked about the lanyard hole and he says there should be a lanyard hole, but the scales cover it. If not, then it is even more of a parts piece.

So, parts knife assembled from leftover parts by someone with a good hand.

Thanks for those pics.
I've seen those but also talked to Camillus in reference to their custom program that I found in some old catalogs. Waiting fro a more detailed response from them.

A camillus rep told me to not give up hope till he gets back to me due to their custom programs in the past.
