Anyone here have a good read(easy) way of making a woodland camo template for a rifle? I am having a brain fart as to what material to use when I paint my 700p stock so that it doesn't stick to the initial coat of paint and so that it forms well to the stock for good clean patterning.

Google cammo patterns...

Find the one you like, print a few copies, cut out pattern shapes with exacto knife, transfer patterns to stock , and bomb with Krylon..

Hello Again,

Another camo pattern I've used with great success. I used a nylon fishnet laundry bag. Set your color scheme. Grays earth tones etc. then lay the fishnet ontop of your stock and over spray with a complimenting color.

FWIW.

template, we don't need no stinking template!

On my 870 , I removed the stock and forearm (hardwood) I picked up four cans of cheap spraypaint(green, red, gray, brown). Just spray in little spotches, altenating colors. It turned out real well. The shotgun was the express model, the metal was the matte finish. I saw no reason to paint the metal. It works for me nicely as a waterfowling gun, and blends in real well in the marsh.

I have used this method with success.

Go to a silk flower shop or craft shop and get leaf ,fern or what ever type of vegetation type you like ,the ones with a flat style work best.
1/put abase coat of the color you want your vegetation to be.ie if you want a greenish fern.spray a base a little larger than your pattern, allow to dry, then take your leaf or whatever and hold it against the stock where you painted and spray over it with brown ,black ,oliver ,or whatever color you want.DON'T MOVE THE PATTERN WHILE SPAYING,just a light spay over the pattern is all you need . Practise on a piece of card board before you try on your stock. The only thing limiting you is your imagination .

good luck, chris
