Campaign to take guns of campus

By these standards, we should outlaw hippies on college campuses. The vast majority of people here at UVM smoke weed, drink excessively, cause a ruckus downtown, etc. Myself and the folks I know who keep arms never touch illegal drugs, keep the drinking in check (and also know that alcohol and guns don't mix, ever), and don't behave like animals in public. People who own guns legally generally have a higher sense of respect for law and order, and they demonstrate it by taking responsibility for their own safety. People who are looking out for their own well being aren't likely to do most of the things mentioned. Do some? Sure. Do most? Not at all.

I also don't understand the logic of the Brady Campaign. So people my age are old enough to fully face the consequences of illegal actions, but they aren't old enough to exercise a right?

Why are we still paying attention to them?

It's important to watch the enemy. The Brady Campaign might only scratch the surface of the anti-gunners, but they are a significant figurehead in gun control advocacy groups (as I'm sure you know), and some politicians who represent the "interests" of the people receive their gun info from the Bradys', who in turn receive their gun info from Hollywood and wannabe gangbangers posing with their "Glock Fo-tays" on Youtube. Oh, and apparently all military rifles are designed to be spray fired from the hip. I'm not sure what depresses me more; the fact that these cretins are spreading blatant lies, or the fact that a lot of public figures believe them.

As a gun owning college student, I can assert I've never met any other gun owning college student inclined to engage in those activities. I don't even know how they could ever justify those claims.

I never did anything like that as a gun owning college student. Sounds like they are lumping gang-bangers in with the college students. They must have just used the an age filter to pull their data out of some database and not QC'ed it. Typical Brady MO. File it in drawer number 13. :D

I despise the Brady Campaign. They make up statistics and throw the words "Harvard" and "research" so everyone will assume it's true. And the general public will do just that. "Well if HARVARD (the most liberal school in the country) says it, it MUST be true!"

Lets take this one item at a time:

"College gun owners have been proven to be dangerous. Harvard researches have shown gun owners to be highly irresponsible. They are more likely than the average student to:
1, -Engage in binge drinking (I don't drink)
2, -Need an alcoholic drink first thing in the morning (see above)
3, -Use cocaine or crack (I don't use drugs)
4, -Be arrested for a DUI (see #1)
5, -Vandalize property, and (Never committed vandalism)
6, -Get in trouble with the police" (Never been arrested)

As a gun owning mature (48) student:cool:, do you think I can get Gloria Allred to sue the Brady Bunch on my behalf? ;):D:D:D

& of all the student at my college, the only one arrested (& expelled) on a weapons charge was some anaemic left wing Goth who made himself a mace in the welding shop..
