Can a Super Magnum shotgun fire 2 3/4" shells?

Yes it can. The only 3.5 inch chambered guns that have trouble with standard shells are semiautos. Some will work with them, some won't. The 870will handle any shells from 2.75 on up.

sure it can. the only problem you can run into is accuracy with smaller shot sizes. the wad can get messed up because the forceing cone dose not come soon enough. this can screw with the pattern a bit

It's perfectly safe and acceptable to fire 2 3/4" shells in a Super Magnum 3 1/2" chambered gun. The patterns will be fine too.

If it's a semi-auto gun, the gun may not cycle the next round into the chamber due to the low recoil/gas of the shorter round, but still it's safe to shoot the shorter shells in the longer chamber....... assuming the shells are the same gauge of course.

Yes, it is safe to fire 2 3/4" shells thru a remington "super magnum".
Whatever you do - DON'T FIRE 2 3/4" SHELLS THRU A SUPER-DUPER MAGNUM!
You'll get a earth shattering ka-boom :neener:
I have shot aguila mini shells thru a SX-2 and an Extrema - worked fine.

Those mini-shells are fun. Has anyone tried the Hornady SSTs in smoothbore shotguns? I have a Mossy 88, and am wondering if they would be worth it in the smooth barrel.
