Gun shops? Shows, or maybe even a giant ball of twine? So long as its not in the communist state of IL.

I'm landing on Friday, my father gets off of work at 2230 and we are heading to Port Clinton, OH or as we all know it and love it....Camp Perry for my first M1 Garand! Also buying my father one for fathers day. He cannot wait to get there.

After that I got some personal stuff and the interment of my grand mother. Then off to Tx for house hunting and fun!

Next week my road trip route is: Running 88 to I 35 then I35 straight down to North Tx.


My route is from Norther communist IL > Des Monies Iowa > Kansas City Mo and Ks> Witchata > Oklahoma city > Denton Tx > Ft Hood > Back to IL.

Can't recommend any places to visit around Port Clinton, but to say how excited you must be to get your first Garand. Just wanted to say I'm attending a military reunion in Toledo the first of September and am planning to stop by the CMP store and buy one or two for myself. while you are in north texas, you need to go to the shotgun range at Elm Fork gun range in Dallas, they have a shotgun course that is like golfing with a 12 gauge. I assume they rent shotguns because they rent other guns, but I have never actually asked.

as far as a good gun store, you should check out The Bullet Trap in Plano. good prices, great selection, and you can rent a bunch of different guns for their indoor range.

Yes, they do rent shotguns (and golf carts) for sporting clays. Pretty reasonable rates too. Be advised that they are closed on Mondays. Also, on weekends, (like on any gun range) they are very busy! Have fun while you're here in Texas!

I am taking several rifles and my trusty CZ-PO1 carry pistol down to Tx for some shooting and fun.

It might be a couple hours out of your way, but Black Wing Shooting Center is probably my favorite shop in Ohio. If only they had an outdoor rifle range, I'd never have to go anywhere else.
