Hello, I'm very new here and am wanting to do some work on my "little guy", which is a Pietta Remington 1863 pocket that the cylinder won't come out right or go back in. It seems that something internal needs to done, and having done some gunsmith studying, want to do it my self if at all possible. Are there any "assembly/disassembly DVD's or even online sites to show me how to take it apart ?

Needs to be on half cock so the bolt and hammer nose aren't holding the cylinder in the frame. Also make sure the base pin is all the way out and clear of the cylinder.

When taking it out, go from left to right while turning the cylinder clockwise. When putting it back in, go in from the left side while turning the cylinder clockwise.

Thanks ya'll !!

I took it apart last night a little at a time in "sections", and checked the springs, cylinder stop, and hand, and everything was as should be as far as I can tell . However, I'm gonna take 'im to the doctor next week and have the breech/cylinder face distance checked or whatever it may be, and get 'im fixed up right . At least I learned how to disassemble/reassemble a pocket Reminton as well as my limitations ! Thanks to all who answered , this is a GREAT forum ! :D

I think I found it . . .

The hand is sticking out a little too fer, so I'm gonna do some careful filing on it's face and see what that does. Does that make any sense? Because when I draw the hammer to half-cock, the cylinder won't turn as it should for loading it with the loading lever.

Good advice! I have a place here in Charlotte, but fortunately I won't need 'em! It's functioning waaay better than it was, but before I take it to the range, I'm still gonna have it checked just to make sure!

Thanky Ya'll !

Thanks for the info on the Pocket Remmie ! I fixed it and it functions like a charm ya'll !:D
