do you live in taiwan and want to visit CALIFORNIA or do you live here and are from taiwan?

if a cop wants to he will call a pencil a concealed weapon. so if you want to carry a screw driver carry one just dont ever say its for protection.

I can't speak for Cali, but in Kentucky anything is legal to possess as CCW as long as it not prohibited by another specific law.
Items such as the screwdriver you mentioned, num chuks, batons, billy clubs, brass knucks and such are I believe all legal.
I would agree with stealthmode on the subject. If you are attacked and happen to have a scewdriver in your pocket what other choice did you have? But I don't think I would advertise my reason for carrying said screwdriver.

Of course, if you want a classy carry drink, the vodka martini, shaken not stirred is the rule. :)

How about a can of Coca-Cola carried in a sock? Works just like a slungshot.

Regarding screwdrivers & Taiwanese law, check the penal codes over there. I dunno.

In NC, the permit is called a Concealed Handgun License; ergo, it allows only handguns to be carried concealed. If you have a baseball bat behind the seat of your truck, you can be busted on a concealed weapons charge. :scrutiny:

A screwdriver (the tool not the drink) may be considered a dirk depending on the circumstances.
CA. Penal Code:
12020. (a) Any person in this state who does any
of the following is punishable by imprisonment in
a county jail not exceeding one year or in the
state prison:
(a)(4) Carries concealed upon his or her person any
dirk or dagger.
(c)(24) As used in this section, a
"dirk" or "dagger" means a knife or other
instrument with or without a handguard that is
capable of ready use as a stabbing weapon that
may inflict great bodily injury or death.
A nonlocking folding knife, a folding knife that
is not prohibited by Section 653k [switchblade], or
a pocketknife is capable of ready use as a stabbing
weapon that may inflict great bodily injury or
death only if the blade of the knife is exposed
and locked into position.
(d) Knives carried in sheaths which are worn openly
suspended from the waist of the wearer are not
concealed within the meaning of this section.

Just carry it openly in a belt sheath and say you are going to work on a project or something if someone gets nosy.

Oh, and as for ccw of a drink, only a Gin Martini will do. :neener:

Well, I think I've narrowed it down to Global or Wusthof, I think, maybe, I dunno, sorta-kinda-hmm. Chroma's design is just a little too radical-looking, I dunno if my parents would like it.

It's probably going to be Global, but I have heard good things about the Wusthof, too so I'm keeping my mind open-looks are only a bit of what I'm looking for. Comments?

Huh? Oh I think this is in the wrong thread.

As for carrying a screwdriver, I would advise against this, but check your local laws. What is the law on knives as no chance at carrying a small folder?. How about a set of keys on a couple of rings, in a pinch you can use the keys to slash or punch with.

I gotta respectfully disagree on that one. That will hurt your hand as much as it will the other guy. If you hit something full force with keys between your fingers, you WILL bleed. Trust me, I know as I have tried it. Mix that with causing your adversary to bleed on you, and you may find yourself with hepatitis or some other blood borne illness.

I am an advocate of learning to use everyday objects as defensive weapons. A chair, a car antenna, a no. 2 pencil, ect... but in the grand scheme of things, I would rather use my bare fist that my fist with keys. The costs outweigh the benefits.

CCW Screwdriver, make sure you screw in at least 500 screws to particle board, wood and car doors to make sure its reliable before you carry it. :D

...Phillips-head has much better stopping power than standard. I reccomend a three inch shaft for comfortable carry, but IWB just never felt comfortable to me with a screwdriver...

Phillips head? Poppycock!

Everyone knows that a flat head scored higher on the M&S Knockdown tests, you know the one using live kodiak marmosets?

If you carry a Phillips head, you are not carrying enough screwdriver. If you can't handle carrying a 10" Craftsman Flathead, you are a girlie man.

:D :neener: :D

First, for the record, I have not met a single block of ballistic gelaton that I couldn't handle with a screw driver.

Second, if you all think a screw driver is not an effective weapon, you've obviously not seen it in the hands of a professional. (Not stating myself as a professional, just that I have seen people use it with serious effectiveness)

Third, Malt Scotch, never younger than 20 years old.

Fourth, Keys bunched up with just the tips exposed in a vertical grip grasp works well.

Fifth, the knife forum has covered it, it's considered a dirk.. and covered by dirk laws..

if you are ccw a tool, why not try a belt sander? Strap on some batteries and i don't think it is considered a weapon (dirk or otherwise) :D

Get a good chain saw better than and girlie screw driver.

Col. Mustard move to Ky then you to can carry other than a pistol. A man is not properly dressed if he doesn't carry a good pistol and Bowie knife.
