This is for Washington state.

I am 27 now. My record is clean since I was 18, not even a parking ticket. When I was 13 I got upset with family and said some things I shouldn't have. They ended up sending me to to a mental hospital as punishment by exaggerating the truth to have me committed. Since then my record has been spotless. Now I want to own a gun, but I feel due to a childhood lapse in judgement and parents I will never be able to own a gun.

Here's my question... If I was under 18, will this commitment show up on my DSHS check if I apply for a CWL or NICS if I try to buy a gun? In Washington state you authorize them to check with DSHS. If I was under 18 and it was almost 15 years ago I feel I shouldn't have to claim it.

I don't want to try and get denied, is there anyway to check to see if I will be denied? If I had my gun rights revoked, can I get them restored? How much would an attorney charge and how long would it take? I am mentally sound and work for a government rescue agency, passed their full psych exam and background check. It would be unfortunet if i can not own a gun or end up paying thousands od dollars to try ans g it restored.
