First off, I want to know what you guys think about this model rifle overall anyway. It's one of the few NY safe compliant ARs I've seen for sale commonly here in NY. Is it a good buy? Cheapest priced AR I've ever seen. Reliability? Durability? Accuracy? Lastly, as the title asks, can I fit something like an dIronwood wooden stock set to it if I bought one? I like the look of an AR with wood furniture.

I like the M&P rifles. I've run one as a duty gun for probably 6 years now, and used a Colt before that. The M&P has a nice trigger, shoots well, and has been reliable for me. I did need to replace a safety detent at one point, but stuff happens (and it's a really cheap part).

As for wood furniture, I have no idea. I've never seen wood furniture on an AR-15, and can't imagine how that would look as an "improvement". Obviously looks are in the eye of the beholder… perhaps you'll have to show me a picture of such a rifle!

I've shot an AR with wood furniture. The buffer spring was really loud. It was kinda strange.

You can put a standard A2 style wood stock on an m&p but its not NY compliant. To stay ny compliant you would have to custom make a spprter style stock with no pistol grip. The only thing off thr shelf I know of that accomplishes what you are thinking of is the ARES SCR with a wood stock.

mooj, couldn't I just put the wood stock on and a wood handgrip on but keep the standard NYS compliant "partial pistol grip" thing? It's like a pistol grip that has had its grip chopped level with the trigger guard and it's NY state compliant (it sucks I know, but that's the way it is in this s****y state right now).
