As the title says, I'm curious if I can shoot +P loads with my Sig P6. Or maybe I should word it "Will I wreck anything by shooting +P loads down my Sig P6"?

Thanks...

I think so.
I've fired 100 rounds of Winchester Ranger-T 127gr JHP +P+ (RA9TA) in mine so far with no malfuntion of any kind. Once I fire another 100 trouble free rounds through it I'll start carrying it with that ammo.

When I got mine first thing I did was install a new recoil spring from Wolff. I left the heavy main/hammer spring in the gun.

Some people will say that standard pressure 9mm is all you need. They will say that the extra blast and recoil is not worth the gain in velocity. They will say it is more expensive (bulls**t),and that unless your pistol says explicitly that it is made for +P or +P+ it should never be fired with that ammunition.

I say any 9mm made after World War II should be good to go, or isn't worth owning unless it is a micro 9mm like the Rorbaugh, and that a gun as high-quality as a Sig P6/P225 is absolutely fine with the slightly warmer 9mm+P loads. Besides, Europeans load their 9mm to a different standard that is at least equal to our +P+. I know +P+ doesn't have any set guidelines, but really if it is loaded by any reputable manufacturer it will be at or slightly below the CIP spec of 39,200 PSI.

Basically americans load 9mm lighter than everyone else, and lawyers have gotten their hands into everything. Dudes trying to make a 147 grain go 1400 feet per second out of a 4" barrel probably fueled that fire.

If it is a factory load, I wouldn't be the slightest bit concerned, those people have a business to run, and usually businesses don'tlike causing their customers injuries or damage to property.

Thanks a lot guys. I talked to a few gun guys locally and they all thought it would be OK, but none sounded sure. I'll let you know if I blow my fingers off...

worst case scenario with a seriously overcharged (not +P or +P+, but screwed up reloads) round you would crack the grip panels and the mag would get blown out of the magwell. Modern pistols are quite tough.

Had a chance to make it out to the range with some buddies last weekend. I put about 3 mags of Magtech 115gr +P down my old P6. No issues. Honestly, I could barely tell the difference from WWB. Good times.
