Stumbled unto a Sig P6.

I was fortunate that a friend whose wife had a new baby needed some money. He showed me a Sig P6 9mm. It looked nice, but I had no idea what a P6 was. He said he'd take $250 for it. I said all I could give him was $200. He said to let him think about it. I said okay, I wanted to see what a P6 was anyway.

At home and did an Internet search and found out that the P6 is a German police weapon made by Sig. I understand that it is a European version of the P225 and the P225, from what I understand is a real good gun.

He called and asked if I could give him $225, I said okay. So, now I got me a "new" gun I really don't need, but figured at $225, I couldn't pass it up.

I went to the gun shop's range this evening and shot it - put 50 reloads through it, no problem at all. 25 were 124 gr Berry's HP and 25 were 124 gr Berry's RN (I was concerned because I'd read about some P6s not taking HP ammo.) This one took 'em all. And after shooting my 9mm Kel-Tec PF9, the 9mm Sig was a real pleasure. I'm gonna like this Sig. It's the first Sig I've ever owned.

I'm gonna like this Sig P6 9mm. It will probably take the place of the KT as a range gun. I'll just keep the KT in my Honda CR/V for self defense.

You have yourself an excellent weapon at a steal (and I do mean STEAL of a price). Those are $400-$450 where I live.

Look on youtube. Type in P6. There is a guy there that explains them pretty well. Basically, lots of the internals were replaced on them, so you probably won't have any problems for a while, and the only downside I see with them is a non-high cap magazine.

Thanks, that's nice to hear.

I wasn't too thrilled about the low capacity mag, either, but then again it sure makes it a slim auto.

I took it back to the gun shop's range today. Man, I like the way this P6 shoots. Recoil is sweet, especially, after I've been shooting a Kel-Tek PF9.

SO, what's wrong with a single-stack pistol?

If you can't Ger-R-Done with 9 rounds, twice that many isn't going to help much I betcha!

Maybe it's cause I was weaned on a 1911, but hitting what you shoot at is far more effective then spray & pray with a high-cap mag.

I bought one back in October for 300 dollars with all the goodies.
It is as accurate as my CZ75 and so far no problems. And the only thing I don't like about the 8rd mag is that they cost 40 bucks each. If you find yourself in a situation were 8+1 is not enough then you should of brought your AK.

Enjoy your pistol.

I also picked up a P6 about two months ago when you could get them for ~$259. I had never owned or shot a Sig before, but to tell you the truth I wasn't really that impressed when I finally made it to the range. I'm still glad I purchased the pistol, but the end result was further research and my purchase of a surplus HK P7.

I haven't been able to shoot the P7 yet, so the verdict is out on it for now.

Thanks, RON, That was one to the first things I did. Didn't print it off, just read about field stripping - piece of cake.

There's also a guy on youtube working it over pretty good, too
