Are these cartridges interchangeable? I've read you can shoot Whisper in Blackout but not Blackout in Whisper. I am really new to the 300 Blackout, just got my upper this week and have a few questions.

I have read that, but have not tried it. I have used some .300 whisper range brass, sized it with my .300 BLK sizer and used it. Shot just fine. The only issue I had with it was when trimming it did not fit the same in the collet on my RCBS trimmer. It changed to trim length by not tightening up in the same place. I could re-adjusted the trimmer and used them, but I only had a few so I scrapped them after a couple of firings. I just got tired of fooling with the re-adjustment.

I was planning on cutting down some 223 brass for my reloads, as I load for 223 and 308, so i got the components, is this pretty common practice? I've also heard Blackout and Whisper dies are interchangeable? True?

Some die makers are calling their die sets .300 Blk/Whisper. I do not know the exact differences off hand.

Yes, it is common practice to make .300 BLK brass from .223/5.56 brass. There are many places to buy such converted brass, and it is also fairly easy to make. That is one of the draws of the caliber, relatively cheap brass.

Headspace is the same, AAC claims they gave the BO more leade to keep pressures lower in a similar situation to .223 and 5.56.

Is it a bad idea to shoot whisper in a Blackout? Or of no consequence? Or am I being paranoid?

No consequence. I wouldnt say you are paranoid though if you are simply unfamiliar. Especially with the 300 BO induced kabooms that have circulated the gun boards, though these were 5.56 guns with a BO being chambered.

LGS has the whisper and they do not have the BO.

I looked at the spec's on the box of whisper and they look identical to the BO ?.

I have a BO upper and LOVE it with the 110 & 150 grainers I have shot,so far.

At 120 yards they are 'minute of clay pigeon' ,with .5 moa red dot.

I truly believe I can best that a great deal with a scope.

Hope to see your results here soon.

Hornady sells Whisper ammo, but not Blackout. You can safely use it in your Blackout.
