Can I use a Kahr P9 magazine on a Kahr PM9?

Need your input... Went to a dealer to buy a spare Kahr PM9 magazine. They did not have one...but had a Kahr P9 magazine. The staff said that it will work in a PM9 pistol...but will stick out a bit due to it being an 8 round mag. (The PM9 comes with a 6 or 7 round mag.)

Since it fits (I tested it) (and both guns are 9mm), and the fact that I don't mind the aesthetics of it "sticking out" beyond the normal length of the grip... is it safe to do this?

I actually like the idea of an 8 round mag on my PM9.

Yes, it will work. I've used my E/K9 magazines (same as P9) in my own PM9. I still prefer the finger extension magazine ...

... as the upward extension of the floorplate also acts as a travel stop. It is possible to use too much force when slamming a mag home (as you might if you have to reload under stress) and override the mag catch. BTW, with the floorplate removed, the body/tube of this mag is the same as that of the standard 7-round E/K/P series.

All Kahr mags fit Kahr guns provided they are as long or longer than the original. It seems all Kahr mags cost the same, this is why I buy the 8 round mags for range time in my T9 and smaller Kahrs.

they do

make nice range magazines BUT one should also practice with the 6 round magazine (flush fit) also, as the grip feel is different with the extended magazines., and you will shoot different....

Hmmm....I wonder if there is an even bigger (that is, more capacity) 9mm mag from Kahr....

Is there a 10 round 9mmm Kahr mag that will fit into my PM9?

Nope. The "T" frame Kahrs use the factory eight round mags, which are the highest capacity.

The Lone Haranguer: ...A long 10-round mag in a PM9 defeats the purpose of its being a little gun, namely that it be little.

Not if it's your spare mag.
I carry my PM9 with the 6 round mag w/flat baseplate & an eight rounder as a spare. If Kahr made a ten rounder I would get one.

FYI: The eight round magazine tends to "spit out" rounds as it sits in my pocket being carried around all day. It often occurs when I'm sitting absolutely still, next to someone who doesn't know I carry a gun, in a really quiet room whilst doing something important, so you can imagine how aggravating that is.

Often, by the time I get to fixing it, it has spit out three rounds, which would leave me with a five-round reload if I were to need it.

Has anybody else had this problem?

I've had this happen with both eight and seven round magazines.

YUP

BEST PUT any spare magazines in a magazine carrier, for all kahrs magazines work that way. Course I never carry a spare magazine withoutit in a case. keeps cleaner ..

I too have had rounds work loose from the magazine and even fall out of it when carried loose in my pocket. There are pocket mag carriers available, and I would certainly use one. By contrast, I once dropped a CZ PCR magazine on a hardwood floor - don't ask :uhoh: - and the rounds never even budged. (This is actually a design feature.) This is not one of Kahr's better features, but show me another gun that combines the PM9's combination of size, cartridge, capacity and shootability.
