Can New York Shut Down the NRA?

Trump's "Non Profit Charitable" Foundation was shut down by the AG of New York State when she found evidence of "self aggrandizement" by Donald. Can North's claims of self enrichment by Lapierre put the NRA in the same situation since they too are chartered in New York State as a Non Profit? Trump gets a pass criminally for misuse of donations because he is President (as long as he is in office) but is Lapierre criminally liable for the donated money he allegedly spent on himself if the NRA is found in violation of its charter? If he pays it back to the NRA would that allow the NRA to avoid cancellation of its charter? What happens to its funds if the NRA folds?

If this thread continues, let it be with posts that have some legal expertise. We don't want:

1. True believers posting repetitive and numerous video and links praising the NRA and WLP.
2. True haters posting denunciations of the NRA leadership.

Answer the question from legal or other appropriate professional level knowledge and not speculation, please!
