You guys have given me some great advice in my NRA thread, which I thank you deeply for. I've got some good stuff already, some great articles, references, etc. I just want some of your gun enthusiasts opinions, and listen to what you guys have to tell me. I'm writing this paper from my perspective, pro gun. My Supreme Court case I'm thinking of using is the United States vs. Miller, 1939. The current events I might use is either Columbine or the LA shootout, not too sure yet. I'm not sure I can flip those situations into a positive light. The institutions I'm going to write about are the ATF and the NRA. Any opinions/info/links you can point me to are thankedx1000.

The Second Amendment

-Summary of defense and plaintiff prosecuting arguments.

-Ruling-Explanation of majority and dissenting opinion.

-Effects on Americans and their rights.

Current Event

-Background and explanation of event or issue

-Effects on Americans

-Current statistics. What facts or statistics are notable in regards to this right?

Institutions

-Identify and describe one organization in the Executive Branch that is responsible for protecting this right, and enforcing all laws regarding this right.

-Identify and describe one Special Interest Group that fights to keep this right alive for all Americans. What facts or examples do they use to illustrate their ideas?

Conclusion

Letter to an elected official

-States your opinion on what should be done in the future to preserve/limit this right for the American people. This will be mailed.

I just wrote a paper about government abuse of power that focused on Ruby Ridge and Waco. I discussed NFA 1934 and US v Miller as part of the history leading up to these two events. I'd be glad to send you a copy if you want to use some ideas from it. It was APA format, so there is a list of references at the end. Just don't plagiarize it, please. Just lemme know if you're interested.

DJ,

You really should look at the NRA websites for information on the history and cultural background of the second ammendment. They have loads of stuff there.

Liquid-That'd be great if you could email me your work. Don't worry, I'm not here to plagiarize, just here to get different opinions/experiences. You can email it to me at [email protected] . Thanks bro...

achadwick-looking into it...thanks.
