I picked up a Colt Police Positive in .38 Special this weekend at the gunshow.

It's serial number is 4086xx. The seller believed it to be made in the 30's to 40's.

The bluing appears original and about 95% with wear on some of the high spots. The metal finish is superb with no pitting or marring except one tiny scratch near the rampant colt logo (dammit). The grips are almost perfect too except for one a chip in the right grip (double-dammit).

Thanks,
 LL

Hmmmm

Me thinks she's about a 1943, but let's see what the experts say.

By the way, what show ? Crossroads in Phoenix ?

LightningLink...

I think the conflict is explained by the fact that B36 is looking at the serial number range for the Police Positive .38 while the rest of us are looking at the Police Postive Special which I believe is the .38 Special.

OOPs

You are correct--really mixed up my thinking, was thinking the special was for 32 20 for some strange reason. Sorry. :banghead:

Beautiful PPS! I think those are among the most under-appreciated DA shooters around. Many were loved to death, so you're lucky to have one in such good shape.
