It depends on what the original 9mm was. Odds are it has to dowith Mag capacity, double action/single action vs single action, and general construction of the weapon.

9mm refers to the caliber of a cartridge and 1911 refers to a certain pistol design.

The original and most 1911 pistols made today are chambered to fire the 45acp cartridge, but there are some that are chambered for other rounds like the 38 super and the 9X19 (9mm) cartridge, but the basic design of the pistol remains the same.

No difference. Just a 1911 style gun chambered for 9mm , as opposed to the more common .45 Auto/.38 Super/10mm/etc.

"9mm" is on bottom. It refers to a cartridge, or caliber.
"9mm 1911" is on top. It refers to a handgun design.

Many people who do not know much about guns refer flamboyantly to a "9mm" or a "Glock 40" as though they were a specific gun.
As with most things, a little knowledge presented in an arrogant manner often exposes ignorance.
