Can the Sig P220 handle +p Ammo?

Can my Sig p220 handle +p ammo like the 230gr. ranger T? Would it not be recommended?

Greeting's The Dutchman My Friend-

SIG's states that P220's with a "green colored" recoil spring are rated for
+P ammunition. I'm not exactly sure in what year this change took place;
but I have a '95 model .45 caliber P220A, and it has the green colored
spring.

BTW, it won't appear really green, as its more like a cascade bluish green.

I think it was around 94 or 95 that Sig redesigned the frame slightly to help with any issues caused by P+ ammo. This was at serial number 219166. Also at the same time they started using a new trigger group as the old design was not capable of being converted to DAO.

Keep in mind that although Sig says P+ is alright in the 220 it will accelerate wear just as any other pistol. I wouldn't shoot a bunch of them.

I've fired a few mags full through my 220 and see no ill effects. My recoil spring isn't colored either.

So, if the green wears off the recoil spring, can you no longer shoot +P?

Thats right no more +p until you buy some krylon and make it green again.... or just call and get some new springs from wolff???

Based on some of the longevity issues with the 220's

I would stick to RA45T
