Hello,
I'm thinking of going through a custom project involving a folding stock. I could make the folding mechanism by myself but if would save me a lot of time if there where folding mechanisms availible online. If I go through I will make a folder for my bolt action rifle, so the stock must be stable when it is not in the folded position.
I've heard of folding mechanisms for AKs, but I don't know if they're the right thing for me.
Any help appreciated!
ETA: So apparently AK people buy folding stock mechanisms from ACE and Stormwerkz. Let me know if there are others. AFAIK I'm not fighting a war with this rifle, I just want to be able to fold it for storage and transportation (including public transportation). I figure an 18" barreled short action rifle with a folding stock would be way more packable than my 24" barreled Mauser.
Priority is stability in the folded position. Weight is probably not an issue, and as long as the price is under 100USD shipping won't be an issue (your silly export laws are a mess).
What folding mechanisms are the most stable in the folded position? I don't want to notice that it's a folding stock when I shoulder the rifle. When I have buck fever I want to be able to press my cheek to my stock without the stock feeling unstable.
