Using 9mm Luger dies to load 9mm Makarov...

I originally saw this post and thought no, you cannot...but that is not exactially true. I am using an RCBS 9mm Luger die set below:
1. Set the 9mm Luger sizer die off to the side, you will not need it;
2. Take fired 9mm Luger brass, cut off to .70 length;
3. Flare cut case mouth very slightly;
4. Prime and add powder;
5. Use the flaring die body (without stem) as a sizing die (slightly like in neck sizing only);
Works well.
If you want to get fancy. Then take an engine stud ($2.20 at Ace Hardware). Cut it off 1/2" below the solid piece between the threads, leaving the 3/8 threaded shaft, a small unthreaded portion and 1/2'' of the fine threads. The 1/2" of fine thread touch to the grinder till they are gone, this is your depth gauge. Measure the unthreaded portion and use fine sandpaper to take down to .364 inch. Mount in your reloading press with two washers and two 3/8 nuts. This is your 9mm Makarov specific case flaring tool. The ½” of unthreaded area keeps the 364 area from splitting the Luger case, which will happen if you run it all the way to the bottom.

They can be a pain if mixed in, but I trim them off with a lee trimmer after flaring the casemounth, and use a lure blade die to mark the ends after loading. That makes them stand out like a sore thumb.

Definitely by the 9mm makarov dies. Money well spent!
