I had a similar thread but if I only test one can I say I've experienced the basic idea of a CZ-75?

Assuming metal guns in all cases...

I can't afford to try them all. For that matter, if I can get a SAR for $250 and can't get a CZ for less than $450, will that do the trick?

I prefer the original CZ pistols. I have five of them, and they are all accurate, and ultra reliable. My carry gun is a PCR. That being said, I have shot a friends EAA Witness, and it was also excellent, and had a better trigger out of the box, although the CZ's do catch up as their triggers improve with use, and/or dry firing.

I don't have any personal experience with the Turkish or Israeli (Jericho) clones, but have read good things about them.

My B6P (the polymer version) was a great gun. Accurate, reliable, great ergos. Only got rid of it because I wanted an all metal gun. FWIW, I think only the polymer SAR is in the $250 range. The Caniks though are in the low $300's. The nice thing about the Caniks is that they are a more "faithful" clone and can take some CZ75 accessories. Not a great deal of aftermarket for the SAR.

If you have the cash, I'd get the CZ mostly due to accessory availability and replacement parts availability. However, if those are not an issue, the Canik clones are a great budget options. You get most of the "experience" with the clones IMO, and with the Canik you can get alot of the same upgrades from Cajun Gun Works.

I have the SAR 4.5" 16+1 polymer-framed, SA/DA B6P.

I wanted a cheap gun to keep in my car. I purchased the pistol for a total of $241.43 from Sportsman Guide. I've put mixed magazines of Perfecta, WWB, Blazzer Brass, Federal Aluminum, ZQI 123gr "NATO" Wolf 115gr steel-cased ammo and Tula BrassMaxx through it, haven't cleaned between range trips and it just runs like a champ.

I purchased a 19rd Mec-Gar CZ 75 mag for my SAR and it did work, although I had to give the mag a good slap to get it to seat. A few seconds with a Dremel on the magazine cutout and now it seats easily and its still secure.

There are a few minor irritating things about the gun that I don't like. One of them is just the contour of the frame. They use 3/8" of polymer in places on the frame and they lay on extra polymer around the steel inserts where the rails ride.

If I try to get a high grip on the gun, the squarish polymer block in the back irritates the inside of my thumb of my shooting hand and the block of extra polymer just forward of the slide stop makes it hard to really snug the thumb of my non-shooting hand up against the frame for a thumbs-forward position.

My FiL has a CZ75. I have a Witness 9mm. The triggers are about the same. They are equally accurate. We can even share magazines.

I have a sar compact and I have to agree on the ridge near the beavertail rubs my thumb of my shooting hand. I took the edge of the ridge off with a sanding block on my gun. I also have a witness polymer that is rounded in that area and is more comfortable.

If you ever want to add a CZ Kadet conversion Kit, you may want to ask around to see if they fit on the clones. The Kadet Kit is one of the best conversions for any 9mm pistol. Mine goes to the range with me every time. The Kadet is fast to change over from 9mm, shares all the same controls, you get the same weight and trigger pull, it has adjustable sights and is a great training aid when moving a new shooter up from .22 rimfire.

The slide on the SAR B6P is also not as wide as the slide on the EAA Witness rear of the ejection port. If you look at them from the shooters position there is a significant width difference.
