Which Canik would you chose and why ? This would be for a carry gun , range gun , and general home defense 9mm. The SF is single action striker. The DA is double action / single action striker with a decocker button on top of the slide and just for reference , there's no chance of "accidental" decocking since the button takes a deliberate push. The button just makes it go from SA to DA so there is no dead-trigger. I don't care for any "red-dots" on pistols nor any compensators or such which is why I chose these two Caniks. I know there is the Mete and other fancy ones but these two only interest me. I have had them both before but traded them off. I'm about to get one of them again and can't decide which. Thanks for you input.

There were some talk about Canik's strikers breaking a few years ago. I cant seem to find out if Canik fixed that problem. Some say it was MIM strikers and some say it was from excessive dry-firing.

I would deffinitly go with the TP9DA because it has second strike capability and that is something I prefer on any carry pistol.

I have both but the TPSF has an aftermarket trigger in it. I like both a lot but I would pick the SF if I can only have one. With the SF you only have to learn one trigger pull versus da and sa with the DA model. Also if you want to upgrade the trigger the SF is the way to go. I have a Freedomsmith Pro trigger in my SF and it is great. No take up with a short crisp pull with a short reset.

I like the consistent striker triggers of one pull. If I wanted DA ability I would just go hammer fired or the original P99.

I also heard the first run of TP9DA had trigger issues which is why I never got one. I don't know if anyone remembers the details, but there were a few videos of dead triggers or reset issues, etc.

Between the two pistols I would go with the TP9DA as I like having the decocker with a DA trigger. I have several DA/SA guns (Sig P229, CZ P01, and a CZ P07), that I use on a fairly regular basis so I'm accustomed to having the first shot in DA mode.

I have a TP9SF elite I carry quite a bit, I've owned the DA and the older V2 model as well as Walther P99 and PPQ . My preference is the TP9SF trigger but I do see advantages with the DA trigger as well.
