Does anyone know what non-Canik magazines will function in a Canik TP9 SC? What I’m interested in is if I can use magazines from handguns that I own already or magazines that are cheaper or more readily available than the Canik mags. There are some indications that SIG P226 mags and Taurus G2C mags may work, but I haven’t gotten a definitive answer. Thanks!

I had a first-gen TP9 years ago, when they only had the one model to choose from, and even then, there was speculation that other mags would work. Unfortunately, Canik was hardly a blip on anyone's radar then, so there wasn't a big target market (in the US, anyway) generating much demand from manufacturers or even drumming up much interest online. However, the factory mags were - and presumably still are - made by Mec-Gar, and since they make either factory or aftermarket mags for practically every semi-auto handgun on the planet these days, they might be able to answer that question.

I wouldn't be surprised if it is sort of like the Beretta 92-series mags vs. Taurus PT92 mags, which will fit but require modification to function properly, or such was my understanding of it when I had a PT92. Mags were readily available, so I wasn't forced to attempt modding Beretta mags.

I could be wrong, but as far as I know, the Canik TP9 is a copy of the Walther P99, with slightly different contours, and a different slide release, but internally, it's the same thing. I don't know if the sub-compact is based on the Walther P99C, but it certainly looks like it. So you might want to check and see if the mags made for those guns fit.

FWIW, Just like Walther, Canik doesn't make the mags for their guns, Mec-Gar does.

They are $27 a piece or less. Why bother? Its not like they are HK MP5 mags which cost $90.
