20211006_080123.jpg I just got a Canik TP9SF . I have been on the fence for 2 years about them. A well know trainer has a training facility nearby and he has several of them as his loaner pistols for his classes. he reports no problems at all. I got mine for $379 and figured they would never be any cheaper than that. The trigger is AWESOME , the feel is great , and the reset is SUPER. The only thing I would ever change if I could would be the roll pins. But all in all I really like this pistol. The metal sights are great and can easily be racked off a gun belt to cycle the gun. I just can't say enough good things about it. I have owned Glocks since 1994 but this Canik is extremely nice !

Can you explain that thing about roll pins ?
I am planning on getting the same gun
Had TP 9 SA - regret selling it

I just like solid pins as they can be used over and over again , like in a Glock. Roll pins have to be driven out with punches and over time they get deformed and not able to be used again. Plus some roll pins when punched out can cause the hole in the frame that they occupy to be "wollered out" and make it bigger. But that's just my OCD quirk.

The one thing that I look at in a pistol now days is how strong the part or lug is that contains the recoil spring assembly. The most fragile lugs I have ever seen are in most Glocks except in their long slide guns. For example look at this picture I took of my various slides. Check this out : from left to right is Glock 17 Gen 5 , Beretta 92FS , CZ75 , and Ruger P89. See how beefier the others are compared to Glock ? I'm just a nerd with OCD but I think it's very interesting and wonder why Glock doesn't reinforce that area .

And here's my Canik TP9SF. It's pretty beefy too.

The SF is a great gun, I have one, and the SFX as well. The only striker gunmaker with the same quality or better triggers is Walther, and not by much (slightly shorter reset). I have about 7-10k rounds through my Caniks collectively, and not a single failure to anything, or repairs. My pistol instructor probably has over 20k through his SFX, not a single failure. Caniks are absolutely the best value for the cash, and better than many more expensive guns, including Glocks. Nothing on any of thier guns needs to be upgraded, except maybe the sights, at least I did.

Yes, many other guns are built like tanks, particularly Rugers. However, so many Glock owners have reported firing hundreds of thousands of rounds in their pistols. It’s hard to argue with that kind of reliablity.

I have the SFX and Elite Subcompact. They are outstanding pistols. I do not think there is a better buy out there… Cerakote finish, MecGar magazines, incredible triggers, ridiculously accurate, and aesthetically pleasing. Moreover, I like how they come standard with holsters and multiple optics plates.

They are generally the same price as blue label Glocks, but, in my experience, superior for the reasons noted above (and I like and have multiple Glocks).

You’re right… I doubt they will drop in price.

There is a full auto rental range in Vegas and the owner reports his experiences with firearms he stocks. Most are either historical and well known, or virtual from games and these days, and even larger crowd is aware of them.

Glocks get about 90k and the slide cracks, some Gen 4's were much earlier at 45k. And Glock replaces every one. So far so good.
1911's not so much, they rent SIGs and others, most get 25k and there is usually a significant part failure. They crack near the takedown hole eventually.
Caniks were a huge surprise, still shooting long after their expectations of failure evaporated.

Canik is owned by a Turkish aerospace company who sells to Boeing and Airbus, so the corporate quality engineering culture isn't slapdash. And Turks, despite some who disparage them, have been building cars at all the major German plants since they were recruited as "temporary labor" in the 1960's. I haven't heard of major quality issues at MB or Volkswagen, unlike our American plants.

Take that concept of hard work and industrial accomplishment, somebody is going to do well. We did up into the 70s. Italy still is. The Turk shotgun industry is roaring along and many are exported here to sell for 30% less than the American version.

Now the 3 Gen Glock patents are expired, and clone makers are lining up to sell their variation. Almost all the internal parts are Glock interchangeable. Even I get tempted yet, I bought the TP9SF. If they offered a normal trigger and thumb safety - or a modification, it would be fine by me.
