I've been thinking about trying some of the amateur comps we have at the club. Suddenly realized I don't have a full size 9mm.

I don't really need an excuse for a new pistol so a full size 9mm range toy that doesn't take a big chunk out of the budget would be nice.

I'm thinking about grabbing a Canik TP9SF One Series unless someone gives me a reason not to. Anyone give me a reason not to?

Because there are a lot of other nice polymer hi cap 9mms out there besides a Canik for similar prices that will have better resale if you hate it? Does look like a nice weapon though.

Sold a few at the shop; guys seem to like them and they do go quick.
But don't get one 'cuz I could sell you something similar for many more gazeetas.

I own two.

Yeah, there might be options in the price range, but the Canik is head over heels better. I used to collect budget guns until I purchased a Canik TP9. Then I dumped all my striker budget options.

Only thing that competes in my mind as far as dimensions and trigger, Walther PPQ and HK VP9. I hear good things about the CZP10 but never shot one.

Get it. You'll love it. And honestly resale doesn't suck... Selling a $300 pistol for $250 isn't a huge loss compared to a $600 pistol for $500.

The $280 price would seem to limit the downside.

I have a Canik TP9SF Elite and love it. Check the prices on the TP9SF full package vs the One series. I have seen the full package (with two mags) for less than the cost of a mag ($30) more than the one series. The Canik's come with high quality Mec-Gar mags.

Something like this? IIRC, I got it used with the box and a couple of magazines for $200-something. I think it's a copy of a Walther? It's a very nice pistol: nice trigger and sights, has never given me any problems, good accuracy. Any day of the week and twice on Sunday you could pay twice as much for a worse pistol.

My SFx model has become a favorite. Quality made and as reliable as any brand on the market. No downside here, IMHO. I went for this model because I wanted an optic but the other similar models would scratch that itch as well.

I have heard reports about parts breakage after a few thousand rounds, so that might be one (not sure how CS or part support is).

But the SF I shot was very nice, if I was in your position I would certainly consider one.

I have the sfx with a holo sight I shoot steel challenge and uspsa carry optics. Have over 8000 rounds through it with no issues at all.

I already have the tp9sfx and a tp9sf is being delivered to my ffl today for me . Very good guns with great accuracy. If you can afford about $100 more get the sfx. It comes with two mags, a holster you can use plus it is set up for a red dot if you want. It has 4 mounting plates for the dots and it also has a fiber optic front sight. One thing nice about caniks you can do simple upgrades that make them even better. I have changed some springs and put in an aftermarket trigger. The trigger pull is incredible. This is comparing it to cz shadows and 1911s I have. Here'a link on a canik tp9sfx for sale online with free shipping and also a link for mods. https://www.smga.com/canik/tp9sfx-9mm-2mags-hlstr-mos-260

I've checked completed sales on Gunbroker on the Canik TP9 SFX. The used ones are selling for about $5 less than a new one.

I've had my SFX for almost two years now. I've got around 8K rounds through it. Still going strong. I picked up a SF ONE series and it's been a great pistol.

It's really hard to beat what Canik is selling at the price point.

Also mags are inexpensive and available.

I have seen that on the web as well... Never seen evidence of it though. It's always "the guy at the shop said he had a costumer that..."

According to the company's marketing, they passed a 60,000 round torture test, if I recall (don't quote me on that haha). But that's marketing. And I've seen plenty of youtube people beat them mercilessly.

Honestly, for the price, I'd run it til it dies, if that ever happens, then just buy a new one and use the old one for parts. Springs and pins might be an issue, but I'm sure at this point with it's popularity, they are out there.

Yeah, it was gun range talk from some guy who had one, which I shot and liked.

All guns break sometimes and if parts are easy enough to replace, especially with a competition gun and not a carry gun it's worth the risk for the price, they really do shoot nice.
