I have a pound of H110 and lots of 240 grain LSWC and can't find any reload information, I found info for jacketed but not lead?? Is this not a good idea to reload lead and H110? Is it becasue this power is used for full house rounds and lead bullets have limits?

Lead bullets DO have limits, and you might over-run them with the H-110. But, again, maybe not.....depends on the gun and the particular bullet being used.

Some lead can be driven to 1400+ with no leading problems....some will leave a bunch of themselves on every shot over 1000. Depends on the bullet. A smooth bore helps here too.

I opine that you can use the starting jacketed info with your lead projos, just remember that H-110 does NOT like reduced loads and may burn like crap at the starting charge. Also, do NOT reduce the charge below the recommended starting point. Mostly they advise no less than 10% below maximum, otherwise the combustion gets erratic and potentially unsafe.

If your bullets are hard and your bore is smooth, you might find happiness with the H-110. Be carefull and safe. Good luck!

Thanks Rob for the feedback,

I'm using 240 grain laser cast LSWC's in a Taurus M44 6.5 inch barrel. I also reload .357 Magnum and might consider to load that?? I purchase this because I was at the Bass pro in Orlando, expected to pick another power but with their terrable stock of powders the one I wanted was not there so I picked this mistakenly thinking it was usable for what I loaded, Lost the receipt so I guess I can't take it back?? hate that place but I have limited choices where I live!

Guess I could purchase some jackeket for this load if I have to but I only plink and don't need this for my purpose.

I wrote Hodgdon about LIL'GUN and 158 gr LSWC, and why no loads, I like them.

They wrote back that the bottom of the bullet was melting.

It might have something to do with how I blew up my Ruger Deerstalker muzzle with lead fouling. It now sports a Marlin barrel.

Yesterday that rifle was getting 1720 - 1756 fps with 240 gr JHP 24 gr H110.
With the wrong lead bullets, that would be asking for trouble, again.

I would give Hodgdon credit for one good thing, the reply to email, pronto. And it is someone who handloads that responds.

Sorry.................. 44 Magnum that I fire in My Taurus M44 6.5 inch barrel. Also might consider loading this with .357 158 grain LSWC's.

Oregon Trail laser cast slugs you say?

I run them to 1500 in my 9.5" ruger SRH with 296 without issues. I imagine as long as you have a good bore you should be fine.

I've never used Oregon Trail bullets so I don't know how hard they are or if they are gas checked. If they are a plain base bullet (no gas check) then I would consider forgetting about that pound of h110 and get something like Unique for some nice plinking loads. 44 mag loads with 9 grains of Unique 240 gr lead bullets is nice, light recoil plinking/target/small game loads

I wouldn't pigeonhole yourself into a "bad" load just because you have a pound of powder to use.
