For a while now i have been contemplating getting a m44 or a m38 and now i want a yugo sks.I already have a sar-1 so maybe the m44 or m38 will be better just for the fact the caliber is different.any advantage to the sks over the other 2.Also any idea what gun is the easiest to deal with "clean, strip down, ect" for a person who is just getting into guns. Thanks for any info.

Since you already have a semiauto give a boltgun a try. I want to pick up a Model 1938 myself (I have three other Mosins :D ).

Field stripping the SKS is slightly more complicated than with the SAR-1, but it isn't rocket science. The rifle was designed for illiterate peasants, after all. However, field stripping the Mosin-Nagant is even simpler: retract the bolt and while pulling the trigger, pull it out the back of the receiver. You don't need to take the bolt down every time you shoot it. That being said, completely taking the bolt apart on a Mosin is pretty simple. You can find instructions here .

I also vote for a Mosin-Nagant, and I speicifcally vote for an M38. It handles better than the M44, in my opinion. I agree, the M-N is easier to just strip down than the SKS... but they are both very easy, so it doesn't really matter. The SKS and AK definitely handle differently, but they're still pretty similair in most respects. I think you'll feel like you got more of a new gun instead of a "low cap AK" if you get the M-N over the SKS. Of course, you'll eventually have to get both so that you can have a M-N, SKS and AK... I have all three, and they're all fun. :)

SMy crummy two cents worth

I picked up my first SKS last Summer: until then I was a "Handgun Guy":
now, I take it(and a handgun or two)every time I go to my outdoor range.
It eats cheap 7.62X39 like it's handloaded match-grade.
