Pretty sure I can put together a similar combo for less...
I've thought this out before but haven't priced it:

Ace folding mechanism and mounting hardware
Enidine buffer
Magpul CTR

I think I can put that together under $350. Ouch. But it would look really cool, fold left or right, and I could swap other Ace stocks on that setup.

i don't know two much about MAKO gear other than the things i have seen were out of my price range and didn't even seem worth the money. Does that sum up MAKO's products? Or are they worth the money?

Wow, a stock that costs more than the gun it mounts on. Great idea!!!!

I smash my head on the wall every time I see an AK with fancy optics, or rails, or all sorts of expensive high tech gear. The gun was designed from the start to be inexpensive, reliable, and rugged.

A quality reddot in a good mount is an excellent addition to any rifle, including the AK.

The problem is that for every sensible guy that puts a simple Aimpoint on an Ultimak rail, there are a hundred that slap on el cheapo crap rails, a "Famous Maker" 4x scope, an el cheapo laser, the cheapest collapsible buttstock they can find, etc. Basically the worst of the stuff from the "Cheaper than Dirt" catalog. Now, THAT's stupid!

That $450 for the buttstock would go a long damn way to the ultimak top rail and the Aimpoint, and it'd actually be a very useful addition.

They typically come with a fully functional stock made out of solid wood (not that flimsy plastic stuff) Why on earth would anyone want to get a new one?
